Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

Convinced them of this belief

Quote from Barach Obama:
Doc,

Despite the countless posts pointing out the fallacies you commit every time you mention the US presidents, your behaviour does not change. You either have a very poor grasp of logic or hope other do.

We have an expression “If you can’t beat them join them”. I am willing to play your game.

Before giving my list of people who do not believe in Christianity, can you please clarify the rules of the game. Given that there are more non-Christians than Christians in the world the odds seem stacked in my favour. Can you please clarify.

How do we judge the Truth by numbers?
What is the basic score per person?
What is the extra score per American?
What is the extra score per President?
Note - Does an American President score the basic + American + President or is there a multiplication factor?
What is the extra score for Christians?

From your posts I think the above covers most of the obvious scoring but if I have missed a category please let me know what it is and how may points it gets.

Mea culpa

My earlier attempt was somehow responsible for "screwing up display of thread" and was deleted, rendering inaccessible this epic saga of reason, logic and critical thinking

Anyhoo...

You didn't answer the question I asked, would you like to try again?
And... whilst you're at it, DOC... how about at least responding to my exceedingly simple request for clarification

Wow. DOC can't convince anyone here and he is deluded enough to believe that his nonsense would have convinced Sagan. That is just sad.
Well I'm sure Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, probably never read post 11054 but something convinced them.
Convinced them of what?
Please DOC, do at least try to answer
I'm still waiting, DOC

Quote from Barach Obama:

"I am a Christian, and I am a devout Christian. I believe in the redemptive death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
FAIL

You take over 30 days to reply to a simple, straightforward question, and - rather than think - you resort to yet another logical fallacy

Pathetic, as ever

10 out of 10 for consistency

Minus several million for furthering your claim that there is "evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth"...

Ya got any?

Being President of the great USA makes you infallible because to become President you have to be a genius and an accomplished scholar in theology and philosophy as well as faultlessly honest and trustworthy as is obvious if you look at all the Presidents the USA has ever had because none of them have ever lied or cheated or been unfaithful and all of them were god fearing Christians and even if they weren't they were President of the USA which is the greatest country that ever was so they must have been the best people that the great USA could produce which makes them the best of the best and therefore brilliant men and some might even call them perfect examples of the best that mankind has to offer so anything they say must be right and they all said they were Christians so Christianity must be right and the authors of the New Testament must have been telling the truth or the greatest men that ever lived wouldn't have believed them so there!

Okay, writing that made my head hurt. :boggled:

As a young man Abraham Lincoln wrote an anti-Christian tract.
http://www.infidels.org/library/historical/john_remsburg/six_historic_americans/chapter_5.html

http://www.positiveatheism.org/hist/steinlinc.htm

"Mr. Lincoln was never a member of any Church, nor did he believe in the divinity of Christ, or the inspiration of the Scriptures in the sense understood by evangelical Christians." (Life of Lincoln, p. 486.)

"When he came to New Salem, he consorted with Freethinkers, joined with them in deriding the gospel story of Jesus, read Volney and Paine, and then wrote a deliberate and labored essay, wherein he reached conclusions similar to theirs. The essay was burned, but he never regretted nor denied its composition. On the contrary, he made it the subject of free and frequent conversations with his friends at Springfield, and stated, with much particularity and precision, the origin, arguments, and objects of the work." (Ibid., p. 487.)

"No leaf of this volume has survived. Mr. Lincoln carried it in manuscript to the store of Samuel Hill, where it was read and discussed. Hill was himself an unbeliever, but his son considered his book 'infamous.' It is more than probable that Hill, being a warm personal friend of Lincoln, feared that the publication of the essay would some day interfere with the political advancement of his favorite. At all events, he snatched it out of his hand, and threw it into the fire, from which not a shred escaped." (Ibid, pp. 157, 158.)

Eventually he he decided if you can't beat 'em,join 'em.I suspect a proportion of American politicians have always did this, they can't all have been rabid god-botherers.

"As he grew older, he grew more cautious; and as his New Salem associates, and the aggressive Deists with whom he originally united at Springfield, gradually dispersed, or fell away from his side, he appreciated more and more keenly the violence and extent of the religious prejudice which freedom in discussion from his standpoint would be sure to arouse against him. He saw the immense and augmenting power of the Churches, and in times, past had practically felt it. The imputation of Infidelity had seriously injured him in several of his earlier political contests; and, sobered by age and experience, he was resolved that the same imputation should injure him no more. Aspiring to lead religious communities, he foresaw that he must not appear as an enemy within their gates; aspiring to public honors under the auspices of a political party which persistently summoned religious people to assist in the extirpation of that which it denounced as the 'nation's sin,' he foresaw that he could not ask their suffrages whilst aspersing their faith. He perceived no reason for changing his convictions, but he did perceive many good and cogent reasons for not making them public." (Ibid, pp. 497, 498.)

The bigger the better, err. more true. Non-Christians do not count.

What is the basic score per person?

One for True Christians (tm), zero otherwise.

What is the extra score per American?

One for True Americans (tm), zero otherwise.

What is the extra score per President?

One for True Presidents (tm), zero otherwise.

Note - Does an American President score the basic + American + President or is there a multiplication factor?

No multiplication needed.

What is the extra score for Christians?

True Christians (tm) get five points.

"

Guess how many points you'll get... :D

To talk down about a so-called god is political suicide in the U.S.A.
