Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

Then what are they if they are in the link he provided because I didn't see any.

Oh excuse, me I do see the name Ehrman, but the name Ehrman is not a source of a statement without a book title, a page number, and hopefully an exact quote.

You aren't very good at this internet thingy, are you, DOC?

Do you have any idea at all where that page is that I'm using as a source?

Care to have a guess who created it?

Given that I've already told you, degree of difficulty = 0.0

I wouldn't have thought so, but you foolishly keep using that phrase when people ask you legitimate questions and it seems to me that turn-about is fair play.

I was pretty sure the irony of my post would be completely lost on you, so having that expectation met in such a comprehensive and timely fashion is just icing on the cake.

Thanks for playing.

Since you didn't ask for any, I didn't bother to make any up. Why are you always moving the goalposts like this, DOC?

Anyway, my only intentions were:

1. To amuse the other posters. and

2. To create a situation where I could say "Made you look!".

Guess what.

Funny though, that he only realize now that something is suspicious with that link, considering you posted it two more times before (was it two?).

To me it suggest he did not check the first two times, which further illustrate how little interest Doc actually has on the subject...

Good point, Mate, and not lost on me at all. I was pretty sure it was going to take a few attempts before one of my posts came up on DOC's magic 8-ball as one to read.

You're completely correct, and it was third time lucky. :)

I don't imagine DOC will ever click on that link again, so I'm sure you can imagine the fun I'm going to have with it. I'll be able to get away with all kinds of shenanigans and DOC will be completely in the dark about all the inside jokes that only he is excluded from. *

* See what I did there? Have I created a dilemma for him, or what? Snicker.

You didn't answer the question I asked, would you like to try again?
And... whilst you're at it, DOC... how about at least responding to my exceedingly simple request for clarification

Well I'm sure Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, probably never read post 11054 but something convinced them.
Convinced them of what?
Please DOC, do at least try to answer
I'm still waiting, DOC

I don't know how Jefferson felt about the Gospel of Mark because you didn't bring in a source. But Jefferson must have surely thought Christ went to heaven. Jefferson did believe in God and it is logical to assume that he believed in heaven and hell since there were several verses in his book (of Jesus' Morals and teachings) that talk of hell. Why would he include those verses in his book if he didn't believe in hell. And at least one verse he mentions an angel, so one can conclude he believed in angels also.
I'd assume you would've read the Jefferson Bible and some of his many letters concerning his beliefs about Jesus since you seem so hung up on him?
What was the ending of the Jefferson Bible? What did he say about the resurrection?
As to your garbage concerning his beliefs about heaven, hell and angels, it shows how ignorant you are concerning Thomas Jefferson's beliefs.
Even the supposed shorter version of the Gospel of Mark reports that Christ's tomb was empty.
So? Did those silly women misplaced the body? Did someone steal the body? Did someone make up a story again? tsk tsk
Yes I believe Christ's tomb was empty and the famous Christ's body was never found in 2000 years.
What body? Did something happen? Oh, you mean that story. I read another story in the Koran about his surviving. Go figure.
And not all scholars believe Mark didn't write the whole gospel, including the Resurrection.
Mark who? Which "scholars" are these? Even the most die hard nutter accepts that the ending of Mark is a latter addition but keeps it as a matter on tradition.

Now you can answer my question: do you agree with Jefferson's opinion of the Jewish faith and morals?
Which one? Be specific.

Yes, she'll be flying big white airplanes, she'll be flying big white airplanes, she'll be flying big white airplanes when she comes.

My vote is for health care reform.
Thanks for quoting me :) I have been wondering if DOC is using the forum software to aid and abet his ignorance. If so, at least now he'll catch a glimpse of my sincere and simple request

Oh darn, I meant to do that myself, but I was called away for something. This is what I would have done, had I not been distracted:

It's getting kind of hard to miss, eh?

He responds to big, red text. Eventually.

Just saying...

I am up to page 100 now, there has been a long time with no real substance so I have just quickly brushed through several pages in my spare time. I want to restate what I mentioned earlier: the OP was one of the most egregious assaults on critical thinking I have seen this side of Fox News.

I've been thinking that if some industrious soul were to take the time to delete the 70%+ of this thread that was fluff and spam, this would be excellent reading not just for very informative Biblical history information from some true scholars but also a great example of what the skeptics and critical thinkers of the world are up against, the logical fallacies and the Woo, and how to properly (and patiently) handle these things.

Of course, another lesson here (thanks Krazy...er, Kurious Kathy and DOC) is that the Woo aficianado stands fast and firm to their Woo of choice. My logical fallacy bingo card has been filled up a few times over and I am only a third way into the discussion.

I am begining to think, however, that the OP, DOC, might be some sort of computer program because I am begining to see a pattern to his posts. When faulty "evidence" is presented and thoroughly shot down, it goes away for a few pages while a list of supposed martyrs is posted a few times along with the sentence "Thomas Jefferson thought Jesus' teachings were the most moral and sublime mankind has ever seen." Then that old "evidence" from earlier is reposted and we start over.

Also, about every tenth time someone calls him a liar (lying for Jesus is still lying) he gets mad and spends several pages saying he demands an apology (or what??) and that the person who called him a liar no longer has any credibility (to whom??). Also, he seems to think that all the people reading the discussion, like me, are going to be blown away by his conclusive proof (wrong); he KEEPS saying "It's a good thing my (zillion) posts are here for anyone to read.

I'm imagining something like the computer in War Games but programmed for Woo instead of War.

Interesting... Making the Turing test easier by only impersonating a really dumb (and repetitive, and oblivious to arguments) human... Brillant!

Let's give the big, red letter theory a try...
