-We are going on the assumption that this is not socialized medicine. Let me tell you here and now it is socialized medicine.

Except for part 3, they were right. So what's your point? While we've had medicare, out of pocket expenses for the elderly have skyrocketed. They are actually worse off under medicare than they were before. They pay more of their income for health services than they did before they had a government health plan.

Stupak and the anti-abortion Dems now have a deal with Obama. They will vote YES on the health-care reform plan, and he will sign an executive order banning the use of Federal funds to pay for abortions, except in cases of rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother.

Wasn't is GW that messed it all up? It seems to me that the GOP mantra is "government programs don't work" and they try to prove it every time they are in power.

And almost half a century later, medicare is flopped with budget crises struggling to stay afloat. Add to that fewer people are now supporting an increasing population of people going on this system. Seems about right... and they want to shave off another half billion from the program..
