What Happens After I Die?

"No other book has stood the test of time."

That is untrue. Hinduism and Buddhism both predate Christianity. Firm believers of these ideologies believe just as strongly in the authenticity of THEIR religious books, find just as much spiritual comfort, and are just as sure as their authenticity as you are of Christianity.

And here's the thing Kathi, I do actually believe in a creative force, though I don't believe it has any resemblance to the Christian/Judeo God. But if I truly BELIEVED that God operated the way you think he does: casting people into hell for believing the wrong thing, then I would not worship him, even if I KNEW him to be real, I would rather go to hell than go to Heaven with some prick who sent 6 million Holocaust Jews who DIED for their faith and devotion to Him to Hell just because they didn't believe in him in exactly the right way. If that's the kind of guy God is, I'll take my chances with Satan.

In other news, that link in the OP was great.

That it's a book of violent historical fantasy fiction?

Why?

Well you mean besides it is the absolute word of God? No other book has so much knowlege to share about spiritual truths, and then there is the over 300 prophesies about Jesus that were fullfilled. How can you not see that Jesus is the Son of God?

How did you decide which scriptures were true?
You do understand, don't you, that there are numerous religious writings claiming to be true, and it is not possible that they all are?
God sent his son to earth? How do you know that is true?
I say it is not true. I say jesus is a myth.
Why do you not believe me?
Remember that asserting something again and again does not make it true.

Because I know him. If you had believed in him you could know this truth that not only saves your soul, but you have the one relationship you need most. No one else can fill this God shaped void in the human heart. Jesus is very much alive!

There is no god shaped void in my heart.

My heart is full of blood.

You're wrong, there's only one God and he's the holy king of invisible unicorns. His mental scriptures are absolute. He even talks to me in my head when I worship him. He told me he was the only one and the other ones were only a way to test the fate of human beings. WHY DON'T YOU BELIEVE IN THE ALMIGHTY UNICORN!? He's in all of us, I tell you. You can only see him if you really believe in him, tho.

Never been anyway else but the states have you KK.

http://www.gitamrta.org/

From that site we have........
God is the most powerful person, no one can defeat God in anyway.
God is the most beautiful person, no one is more beautiful than God.
God is the most loving person, he is the nicest guy around.
God is the most merciful person, he doesn't send anyone eternally to hell.
God is the most forgiving person, he gives us unlimited chances (reincarnation).
God is the most caring person, he even cares for the animals like cows, pigs, chickens etc. (vegetarianism).
God is the most fair person, we are rewarded or punished based on our own actions (karma).
God is the most just person, he doesn't make one suffer or enjoy for no reason (karma).
God is the most efficient person, he doesn't keep the dead waiting (reincarnation).
God is the most responsible person, he doesn't order his followers to hate others.

I don't believe in this faith either, but I think it has been better thought thru than yours.

So, you believe because you believe. Fair enough. Deluded and insane, but fair enough.

Since Kurious Kathy chooses to ignore the questions she's been asked in favor of simply repeating her claims, I have added her to my "Ignore" list.

You have no idea what truth means, where did you get the 300 from, who made up that number.

Let's see now. We have today's values, paraphrased as such:
"Of course you're not perfect, no one is perfect -- what matters isn't hating yourself for falling short of some unattainable standard, but to make the most of the strengths you have, and to avoid wrongdoing while making amends for the times you stumble."
Versus the Bible's view on humans, which seems to stand in stark contrast to the above:
"Unfortunately for you, you're not perfect, and God can't stand people who are not 100% perfect, and just for that, you deserve to burn for an eternity in Hell. Just be damned glad the god that is so displeased with you took a weekend off for your shortcomings so that you have a chance of salvation, that is if you ask Him really, really nice."
Seriously, it seems to me that asking God for forgiveness is like preparing lutefisk - nothing wrong with the process itself, but at some point you inevitably start wondering what the point was in soaking the poor thing in caustic soda to begin with:boggled:.

When you die, you are shown a detailed inventory of everything you owned, a list of your magical properties, a catalogue of every living thing (and some nonliving) that you killed, a report of your behavior, and your place on the top ten list. DYWYPI?

Is this an eyewitness account? Does it come from someone that is dead?

When I die, I will be grokked by the gentle worms of the earth, and more life will begin from my rotting corpse.

Well, they would have, but I am going to be cremated - the closest thing to any potential hell that exists.

Kathy, why are you so frightened by death that you think that some superbeing will come down and save you and let you live forever? Specifically, what is so great about forever?

Norm

Sounds more like death in a game to me. Not sure which game though. :)

It's from Rogue or a Rogue-like game I should think. Possibly even my personal favourite: Ancient Domains of Mystery. a dungeon crawl game represented in ASCII characters.
