What Happens After I Die?

I find that a pleasant and comforting thought as well. I can easily conceive of a time when I will be ready to no longer be.

What Happens After I Die?

black screen.
but also depends on your choice.

Fire destroying your body or worms having a huge dinnerparty :D

Here's one version:

" Don't you ever laugh as the hearse goes by,
For you may be the next to die.
They wrap you up in a big white sheet
From your head down to your feet.
They put you in a big black box
And cover you up with dirt and rocks.
All goes well for about a week,
Then your coffin begins to leak.
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
The worms play pinochle on your snout.
They eat your eyes, they eat your nose,
They eat the jelly between your toes.
A big green worm with rolling eyes
Crawls in your stomach and out your eyes.
Your stomach turns a slimy green,
And pus pours out like whipping cream.
You spread it on a slice of bread,
And that's what you eat when you are dead."

Beat me to it. Used to sing that one when I was a kid.

I think when one die,
We ourselves are confused where to go.
I always think its like you sleep forever, with dreams and nightmares. and those could be about hell or heaven, like the pictures we were exposed to when we lived.
Mostly its a Neverending dark cycle for eternity. My vague opinion.

Wish I knew Hamlet's ( From Hamlet by Shakespeare answer). It was religious based, but it was legitimate :p

^I've read so many things, tried to find spirituality in myself and read opinions from thousands of people with thousands of different opinions on this matter. I still came full circle to "I'll never know."

The idea that "we are energy coming from a perfect state to dabble in this imperfect physical state for the adventure of it" is a nice one. Do I believe in it? No. Wish it were true? That would be way better than "nothing" :D

But when one is in the state of being NOTHING, one knows nothing of it. Juct like before you became SOMETHING.

What happens to that small bit of subjective sentience that you call "I" and I call "you"?

That one will stop experiencing itself, having ceased to exist. However, innumerable other bits of subjective sentience will continue to experience themselves. And they will all be "I"'s and "you"'s, just like always. The more things change in the Multiverse, the more things stay the same. The Many-Eyed Beast ends one eye and begins another.

The questions you should probably be asking is "What am I?" and "How do I exist now?", instead of jumping to the one you asked, which might well prove moot once you've answered the first two.

But it is very unlikely you can begin to answer the first two.

I'll probably go to Big Boy because I like their salad bar, like I do several days a week.
