Penultimate Amazing
I would not be surprised if somebody from the left wing of the Democratic party challenges Barak Obama. They won't get to first base, but I think there will be a challenge if for no other reason then ideological ones.
Ah jeez, I can't resist. It's gotten too many mentions in the last 24 hours to ignore. Lou Dobbs opens up the bidding in our new 3rd party/independent category.

It'll be 3 years until we get close to the answer that this thread asks, but we might as well get started.

Mitt Romney will probably get the nomination, and select someone like Mitch Daniels, Tim Pawlenty, Charlie Crist, or Bobby Jindal as his running mate-all popular social/fiscal conservative governors.
But hopes for the GOP ousting Obama in 2012 are probably misplaced. They'll have a much better shot in 2016.
I'm fairly amused to notice that Ann Coulter has endorsed Ron Paul for the 2012 elections.
You need to add some Dems to the list. Obama will surely be challenged.
Bayh.
Hillary.
Name some possible Dem nomination challengers to Obama.
I was thinking that Romney is a shoo-in to try again. Why do you say he won't?
As for Palin, I suspect that the mandarins of the party, outside the Limbaugh (faux populist ignorati) - Kristol (neocon) axis, will do move mountains to try to sink her candidacy.
I would not be surprised if somebody from the left wing of the Democrats challenges Obama as being too "centrists". That seems to be common for both parties.
