Presidential Primaries 2012

I would not be surprised if somebody from the left wing of the Democratic party challenges Barak Obama. They won't get to first base, but I think there will be a challenge if for no other reason then ideological ones.

I really hope so. Dobbs would be a laugh riot in a presendential run.
Problem is a creditible Indie run would require a lot of dough, which Dobbs does not have. He does not have deep,deep,pockets like Perot did.

I don't know how I missed the theocratic Sen. Brownback (R-KS). He's run before, and thus is automatically suspect. He does have a natural affinity to others already in for all intents and purposes (Huckabee) or likely to jump in (DeMint).

John Thune (Senator from South Dakota) is getting a lot of buzz these days. He's running for reelection next year which may make 2012 a difficult proposition; how do you get reelected and then start up a presidential campaign almost immediately. But he's handsome, smart, and a better basketball player than Obama.

He ran for Congress in 1996 and pledged himself to only three terms, which he lived up to in 2002, running instead for Tim Johnson's seat in 2002 and losing by a whisker. He's something of a conservative hero for coming back from that defeat to oust Tom Daschle in 2004. He's considered solid by the religious right, yet also gets support from moderates like David Brooks.

If he does not run, I would expect him to be on the short list for the VP nomination.

I didn't know. Let's take a look at the likely tally if the question is thrown to the Republican field for a raise of hands who does or doesn't believe in evolution of creationism. I think it'll go something like 8-2 for creationism.

I don't agree. But let's see if there's any rumblings after elections this November.

I don't happen to believe that Hillary will ever run for elective office again. As for Bayh, I don't think he'd retire from his Senate pulpit if he thought he'd ever run for president again -- he was in the Senate for that very purpose to start with. Look for him to try to return to the governor's mansion next time it's convenient.

Maybe there's someone else.

Palin, Paul, and Huckabee will not run.

Others will run against Romney hoping there will be a chance he will pick them for the VP slot.
