Are these YOUR requirements? I was giving what I (me personally) would want in a leader of the free world. There is obviously a difference in what I (and most sane, rational, intelligent people) would WANT, and what is required...but if your people want to SETTLE for Palin, fine...like I said, I would contemplate moving to Europe if that happens.

I've heard you discuss, around the board, your own personal awaking so far as seeing and recognizing the blind, arrogant attitudes on both "sides" of the political landscape, so I'm not suggesting this attitude is yours, Whiplash. But we see both attitudes -- the ones about lefties being elitist snobs and about the righties being half-wit country folk.

I tend to think that it takes a half-wit to put someone down for being educated. How can that be defended? On the other hand, it certainly takes an elitist snob to assume that anyone that disagrees with you is a half-wit hick. It's a good thing these base characterizations cannot be accurate in a general, majority sense.

All of the above are things that have nothing to do with why I dislike the politics of Sarah Palin. Some of them aren't even true.

I dislike her as a potential powerful politician because she is naive, right wing, and reactionary. Also, based on her history, I have no faith in her willingness or ability to fulfill her oath of office.

If Palin was quietly religious, was for stem cell research and pro choice - would this make her a better candidate for those who lean more to the left? Does she not have some redeeming qualities? What about the work she has done in Alaska? What do you think would happen if she was elected president of the US?

Her not having an Ivy League education is a plus for me. But on the down side, her not having any political or economic education is a huge downside. During the last 8 years, we've seen what a president lacking mental dexterity can do to a country.

Perhaps you're not familiar with the worldwide economic crisis and recession we're in, caused largely by the subprime mortgage collapse (an almost exclusively US phenomenon)? There's also quite a bit of blame that can be laid at the feet of the Fed, which fueled the subprime mortgage bubble -- but that's not really the president's fault except that he appointed the various people who run the Fed.

Globalism touches us all. Sorry you are having trouble dealing with that. When can we count on Germany taking on a leadership role in global, rather than regional, geopolitics?

Are y'all willing to pay the price, to bear that burden? "

I'd be interested to find out, by action. I for one would welcome greater German involvement in geopolitics.
