Was the Moussaoui evidence posted while the trial was going on? Otherwise it might be a while before anything is released.

The exhibits didn't appear until afterwards (though it was almost immediately afterwards, from memory), so you're right, that'll take a while. We'll have to rely on press coverage and transcripts in the meantime.

This case could take several years. And that's just the case in chief, the appeals could keep things tied up for a decade or more.

Its already taken 8 years to get to this point.

3 years maybe if all goes well, I think (based on Moussaoui). Longer if it doesn't, or the defendants or their lawyers try to delay things.

The appeals won't restrict the release of exhibits (not all of them, anyway), but you still make a good point in that maybe we'll all be bored with this and have moved on by the time it happens.

Probably! But just planning for the trial will deliver a few interesting things, like new federal indictments. Even if they're virtual duplicates of the military ones, it'll be a useful counter to the "there's no hard evidence connecting bin Laden to 9/11" argument.

I am inclined to agree, except that Alive he would be a temptation for some terrorist group to seize hostages in some way to get his release.

There is the distinct possibility that KSM and his fellow defendants will plead guilty, and thus there will be no real trial, just a penalty phase.

BTW, it was about three months after Moussaoui's sentencing (May 3, 2006) that the trial exhibits were posted online (July 31, 2006).

That was the official court site. The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press had exhibits online much earlier. In fact, looking at this now, maybe even before sentencing (see http://www.hsdl.org/hslog/?q=node/2831 , for instance).

Hmm, some Moussaoui trial exhibits were released early, but only because the media went to court for them (see here). So I guess we could get access in a similar way again, though that'll still be a long way off.

"Truthers" can't publicly defend him because it would be way too unpopular among the "sheepies" (which out number them 99+ to 1). But, I would expect to see large campaigns among the faithful to raise funds for his defense and further try to convince the duped (us).

I just got to wondering, what if a truther nut case gets on the jury and the trials ends up in a hung jury. It is a frightening possibility.

How about this: What if several legal motions are made to dismiss the case because he was tortured and coerced as per US law?

Or....we can just throw those silly pre 911 laws out and proceed with a kangaroo USSR-Nazi Germany style charade and hope nobody notices....Yeah!! That's the ticket...

We need the "Super Deluxe Patriot Act", which would once and for good free our courts and law enforcement heros from all these cumbersome impediments.
