Dog consumption

Should America worry about any kind of animal becoming endangered? (Is there enough genetic diversity to allow cow, pig, and other populations to grow?)

So, basically, it's different strokes for different cultures? Look, I believe violence is not the answer, but somebody needs to do something about this.

And the Arabs have to do something about us eating pork? I don't know if you've seen it, but they're as disgusted by that as you are by the dog meat.

It literally is, as you put it, different strokes for different cultures. There's no ethical difference between killing a cow for meat and killing a dog - they are both domesticated creatures of roughly equal intelligence levels. The difference comes from cultural norms, not from ethical standards.

No and yes, respectively. There is a very substantial industry dedicated to making sure that the gene pool of domesticated livestock is constantly improved.

So Cows or any other farm animals won't become extinct anytime soon? Because I am amazed by how many cows are slaughtered here, yet population's not endangered

Did you miss the link I sent of the list? You can find any species you're curious about on it.

FYI, a thousand times more fruit flies die each year than cows. The population isn't endangered. Think about it for a bit.

No. Yes, a lot of cows are slaughtered, but there are a lot of people making sure they keep breeding more cows.

But Flies are not Mammals, and Reproduce much more quickly

I have a black Lab, 85 pounds of pure love. She'd probably dress out to about 40 pounds of meat. But you could only do that when you pried her leash from my cold, dead hand. And after that, you'd reap the whirlwind that is Mrs. JHunter1163. I have no doubt whatsoever that she would kill someone in defense of our dog.

makaya325 - do you think that because 15 million (your figure) dogs are being slaughtered for food a year that means dogs may become endangered or that people in say the USA will not be able to have a dog as a pet?
