Dog consumption

So it's only immoral above a certain quantity? In that case, it's much more immoral eating the domesticated animals you eat (cows, pigs, chickens) because they are slaughtered for food in MUCH greater numbers.

But how many people own Chickens and Cows as pets? Not many, But we do know that Dogs are specifically owned as pets around the world.

Who owns Cows as Pets?! Really, I mean come on! Dogs are likely the most common pet a human can have, and nobody is doing anything to prevent slaughtering of them?

In China they don't keep dogs as pets. They keep them for the same reason someone in the States would own a chicken to keep for consumption later on. Dog meat taste like high quality beef and in a country that doesn't eat much beef because of Buddism (they have the sacred cow thing also) dog meat is a good substitute. The only reason they don't eat cats over there is because cat meat taste horrible, so I've been told.

You are incredibly hypocritical if you don't think that eating chicken is bad, yet, eating dogs is. You use the same procedure for preparing a chicken for consumption as you would a dog. They don't prolong the death to make the animal suffer. They are hungry dammit and they wanna get that thing prepared ASAP.

You can not compare Cows and Pigs with Dogs
But you did exactly that in your OP. Where do you get off telling me what I can and cannot compare?

Here's why

1. Many people across the world have dogs as pets. It is not limited to the US
See my post about cui and lambs in Ecuador. You have this false black and white distinction between animals as food and animals as pets. Kids who grow up on farms frequently befriend food animals.

2. Besides India, what other nation forbids cow meat? Huh? What purpose do cows serve as pets? Do they do tricks? Companionship? Affection?
Do any of the dogs eaten serve as pets? Do any of them do tricks, provide companionship or affection?

As I've shown, animals kept for food are sometimes treated as pets. There is no hard-line separation. Do you propose only eating dogs that are unloved? Those that don't do tricks?

So they can eat something else

Again, how common is it too see someone walking their Pet Chicken? It is common to see Dogs walking.

Because Statistics, culture, and Human nature consider dogs Pets and companions, NOT FOOD!

Statistics? That doesn't mean anything. Statistics don't demonstrate whether something is a pet or a food.

Culture? Clearly, not correct, as there are some cultures that disagree.

Human nature? Ridiculous on its face, or people wouldn't be eating them.

0 for 3.

Culture? Clearly, not correct, as there are some cultures that disagree.

MOST cultures would disagree on those cultures who allow it. Tell me, how do nations like Korea acquire dogs? Hopefully, not from here.

Statistics? (And what's with the strange use of capitalized words?)

So the fact that 15 million dogs are slaughtered for food argues that they are pets and not food? I thought the high number was why you claim it is an outrage. You said:

Consumption is one thing, but do you even realize the incredible amount of Dog's killed for consumption? Up to 15 million...YEARLY.

The statistics certainly argue against at least one of your attempts to support your outrage.

Again, could you explain why you think dogs should not be used as a food source?

It is not that They can't be used (It is acceptable to consume any kind of animal while starvation exists), but they should not be used so often.

1. They are likely the most recognized and popular Pet ever.

2. They display emotions that no Cow or Pig can show

3. There history with man is over 15000 years old

True, but it is not COMMON at all. Dogs, on the other hand, are the most common pet on the planet

Sure lifespan figures into it, but I'd bet more fish are bought as pets every year than dogs. And I'll fight you to the death over a well-prepared piece of Chilean Sea Bass.

So?

Well, of course not, they raise them themselves. What would be the point of importing them?

Because, If the USA was shipping them over seas, Then there would even be a bigger problem.

If dog consumption is allowed in other cultures, then Dog fighting should not be illegal here. Again, like you said, cultures vary

But can you hold a fish in your arms? Can you pet it or greet it? Can it sleep on your lap? No

of course we eat them here in the US, in fact, Paris Hilton herself keeps one or two in her purse as a snack.

I am a dog owner, I love my pet to death, and I am outraged that they let that criminal animal abuser onto my hometown football team. However, I think you have no valid point and do not see anything wrong with others eating dog meat.

You have how many cows In Korea? Yet, Dogs are consumed more frequently than Cows there. Boy, what a waste of cows. They should come home
