As a retired soldier, I find people like this especially offensive. She seems to be of the opinion that the families of airplane drivers with a lot of money understand the impact of war on military families and that the working class people who attack McCain on his lack of concern for the families of veterans or active duty people do not know what they are talking about.

My feeling is that if this ditz thinks that the policies McCain is supporeting are such a good idea, she has no business sitting there babbling like a brook to the TV interviewers. She should be in uniform doing her duty. Pumping up McCain is not doing anything to relieve the burden on the soldiers who are being deployed and re-deployed to the breaking point.

What a lazy, self-centered elitist little snot.

I find your use of sexist insults ("ditz," "bimbo") to be contemptible, completely unacceptable, and way, way beneath you.

She has never had to shift for herself, never had to worry that she would be homeless because the wage earner of her family was blown away by an IED, never had to worry about the primary wage earner coming home with a major brain injury and a discharge that says he was discharged for a "personality disorder." She's arrogant and out of touch. I am tired of people saying I should speak respectfully of such parasites.
 
She should not have said "No one knows what war is like other than my family." I am sure that what she meant was "No one knows more what war is like than my family," which, considering that at least four generations of McCains have served, seems justified.

It's arguably a valid line of attack; she's obviously going out as a campaign surrogate if she's appearing on The View. I would hope that the campaign issues a clarification.

But yeah, the sexism is getting pretty obnoxious.

When is it sexist to point out the arrogance of a rich little snot who thinks she knows what average Americans are going through? She offends me as a retired soldier. She is putting down the concerns of half the families in my neighborhood. She is also shirking her responsibilities to her country. I will appologize to the airhead when she enlists in the Army as an E-1, and not a minute sooner.

And it shows that her dad has poor judgement to let her go out in public and babble like that.

He should be ashamed of her performance.

And I do not ever want to hear that twit refer to the Obamas as elitists.
 
I find it extremely distasteful that we keep hearing about McCain's war record.

Serving in the military does not exuse you from scrutiny. Nor does having a military family mean your policies are good for soldiers.
 
Palin is clearly not VP or presidential material. She doesn't even know about fannie and freddie (apologies if I've spelt them wrong). Really, the rest of the world is looking at this strange turn of events and thinking, Americans can't be so stupid to vote in the republicans because of this woman. She really could end up as President. If this happens, America as a nation is lost and you are welcome to Caribou Barbie.

Replace all the feminine pronouns with masculine ones and this fits Obama as well. Is he not allowed to speak of military families?
 
You want to talk about elitism, consider the fact that McCain is only as well-known as he is because he got special treatment as the offspring of the military elite. He got privileges he didn't earn, nor, based on his academic standing, deserve.

Megan got everything handed to her on the same basis. If she had to shift for herself like the daughters of the typical service member, she would probably be waiting tables somewhere. She is clearly not that bright.

The apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Those who want respect, give respect.

With all due respect, it's rants like yours and Ben's that have set me off the most in the last few weeks. I'm not blaming you guys. I'm just saying that I have been reacting negatively to you guys. And what does it solve? You rant angrily, I rant angrily back.. are we accomplishing anything?

You keep going out of your way to justify saying bad things about people. I think you know therefore that it's wrong and are trying to rationalize. I thought alot about things recently and came to the conclusion I was being an ******* and over the top. I have apologized (in the McCain up by 10 thread) and I intend to continue to try to be civil and substanative. I would ask you to reconsider your position. Please.

I have the utmost respect for Obama as regards his treatment of military families. Which of the two candidates opposed the new GI Bill education benefits? which one snivelled that it was too generous to the one-term soldiers? Which onme did NOT sign onto the bill to require improvements at facilities like Walter Reed?

Which one came up with the sneaky trick of giving veterans a health care card for private care so that the short-comings of the VA as funded by the Republicans would not be noticed?

McCain is out of touch with the needs of the families of ordinary soldiers. He must think everybody gets handed stuff they didn't earn just because they are military. He is Sonny Fuzz with a lobotomy.

So people who speak of military families should either shut up or join the military, if you don't agree with what they say. Even if they are from a military family.

But people who speak of military families can do so, as long as you agree with them.

As a retired soldier, I do not see the bubblehead's father doing much of anything for veterans. That he has such a poor grasp of military science puts more soldiers at risk, and his lack of concern for trheir proper post-service care puts their families at hideous ecconomic peril.

I have no use for that entire elitist family.
