Lane Chaplin has posted another Crosstalk clip on YouTube.

This one is from a recent program that addressed the statements by Richard Abanes

that online discernment ministries are xenophobic, cult-like, paranoid, a

nd are a few steps from the compound of David Koresh.

The video is a ten-minute clip.

Crosstalk YouTube clip is Back Up After Being Pulled
Aug 28

Richard Abanes got YouTube to pull the Crosstalk video that addressed his horrific comments about those who stand for biblical truth. The video is now back up at a different link on YouTube. There’s a truth war on, friends, and Mr. Abanes is on the other side. I am glad that he can’t prevail. Thank you to Lane Chaplin for his work on this. Over 1,000 people had viewed the video in the hours it was up before Abanes had the original removed.

I think if it is a catfight, Ingrid would win

cause Abanes is kind a of a wimp and a hypocrite

Abanes wrote a book attacking Eckhart Tolle (who I think BTW is a loon)

but at the same time Abanes clearly doesn't want anyone to critique Rick Warren.

Richard Abanes has judged

Warren Smith

Bob DeWaay,

Paul Proctor, Moriel Ministires, Daniel Chew, Roger Oakland, Gary Gilley,

Lighthousetrails Research, John MacArthur, Chuck Smith, Dave Hunt, and others

etc. as being "evil" for being critical of Rick Warren

maybes Eckhart Tolle should go after Abanes for attacking him the same way Richard Abanes has gone after Rick Warren critics

I think devnull hit the nail on the head, but hardly 'excellent'.

I've just been out venturing at some of the websites mentioned in the Crosstalk interview. Its surreal. Each side accusing the other using exactly the same arguments (read 'logical fallacies') and premises (read 'God's word according to me'). Yeah, I see a consensus emerging real soon.

Guys, ever heard of something called EVIDENCE? And HONESTY?

Yetch, I think I need to go have a bath.

Hey billiefan, long time no see. Can you please summarize the point of these vids? Thanks.

the point is

christians are being attacked by Richard Abanes

because according to Abanes:

Richard Abanes believes you are evil

and need to be dealt with if you criticize or attack Rick Warren

those who are critical of Warren are calling Abanes a thug and a hypocrite

cause Abanes cloaks himself as a defender of christianity while trashing christians who are critical of Abanes's boss Rick Warren

In short, christian fanatics are finally getting a taste of their own medicine. If Christians can persecute gays, liberals, jews, atheists, humanists, muslims, secularists, ect for not agreeing with them, dont be upset when other christians start persecuting other christians for disagreeing with them.

I call your whole lot a bunch of thugs and hypocrites. God willing, you'll all destroy each other.

It may very well be copyright infringement. However, pulling it is very un-Christian in nature.

Why would one take the chance of driving someone away from the salvation of Jesus just to protect one's own copyright interests?

I'd increase the font size of that to something proportional to its importance, but I don't think fonts go up to octillion-point.

Haven't Christians always persecuted each other? As Robin Lane Fox pointed out, even when in jail awaiting martyrdom under Diocletian, some Christians would not associate with others with different theological angles. and it was only a few years after Constantine's take-over of the christian trade- mark that dissident Christians were executed.

Of course, they all argue that the other lot aren't REAL Christians at all, in fact they're worse than unbelievers...

Beerina, you make good points

BTW as one person said on another site about this:

If Abanes and Warren and the others like them have nothing to hide, why are they trying so hard to hide something?

Here's the Truth

greetings,

If anyone here is at all interested, here is the truth:

1. I don't care who criticizes who. Anyone can criticize Warren all they want -- but they should do so in a Christian manner. In other words, they should do so accurately, carefully, kindly, respectfully, and NOT by use of lies, misrepresentation, half-truths, out-of-context quotes, concealment of information, or other sorts of cult-like, mean-spirited, unChristian tactics.

2. Rick Warren is not my boss. I worked on staff at Saddleback as Creative Arts Director from 1998-2000. He has NOTHING to do with anything I say or write in print or online -- and hasn't since I left staff to continue my pursuit of full-time writing.

3. My issue is NOT with people criticizing Warren (see #1), my issue is with the WAY people are criticizing Warren and the many false accusations being made, which is against the Bible (i.e., that think we Christians are supposed to believe in and live by).

4. As for the video being pulled, much of what I have done, I have done to make a point -- i.e., these so-called online discernment ministries (ODMs) do NOT want to be held accountable for anything they say or do. They want to be as vicious, mean-spirited, and irresponsible with their words as they can be without anyone stopping them and saying, "Wait a minute! That is unture. Now, hold on there! That is not legal. Stop! You're clearly going against everything Jesus and the Bible stands for."

5. I DO NOT think people are evil if they don't like Rick Warren. I have many friends who find Rick Warren to not be their cup of tea. Moreover, I also do not agree with various aspects of Warren's platform myself, and have posted these disagreements online.

6. Ingrid Schuleter's radio program was a classic example of taking someone's words and perverting them to serve an agenda. The woman is poisonous to the body of Christ -- absolutely poisonous, in my humble opinion. She completely took my words out of context in order to accuse me of standing against biblical Christians and biblical Christianity. (That is absurd.) It was also implied by her that I reject the second coming of Jesus -- also false. Moreover, it was suggested by her that I condemn all people who hold certain views of the end times, which once more, is an untruth. My response to Schuleter can be found in my "Aug 26th, 2008 at 7:26 am" post at the PHOENIX PREACHER BLOG, in a thread opened up by that blog's owner, in an article titled "Slice of Shame."

7. Clearly, I have nothing to hide. I have a sterling reputation as a conservative Christian whose books, articles, and lectures repeatedly defend the orthodox, historic, Christian faith. My issue with these so-called defenders of the faith has always been the way they've perverted the noble calling of apologetics and turned it into an online hate-fest. My hope and prayer is that Christians will begin taking a far more Christ-like approach to sharing with others what they believe and why they believe it.

Thank you,

Richard Abanes

Nobody on Earth besides you has given this topic of discussion two seconds of thought for months, but it's probably a good thing you resurrected this thread. Warren is a tool, he's a joke, and I'll criticize him up and down the street with my pants around my ankles if I wanna. And I may wanna. How Christ-like would it be to give Warren a judo chop to the neck fat and sing Rush songs into his ear as loudly as I can?

Thank you,

Richard Toler

Yo Wheeze!

You might have missed this: "I don't care who criticizes who. Anyone can criticize Warren all they want -- but they should do so in a Christian manner."

Now, if you are not a Christian, well, in that case, nothing I said would apply to you. Have at it. And have a good time of it. But just as some friendly advice:

1. wearing your pants around your ankles might get you arrested.

2. a judo chop could also get you arrested.

3. as for Rush, Warren would probably like that, so you'll want to think of something else. ;)

Other than that, I do wish you all the fun there is to be had. :D

peace-out,

RA

Abanes is on the board of directors of the Skeptics Society and seems like a real stand up sort of guy. Any friend of Shermer's is a friend of mine.

- cool, just noticed he responded above. Glad to see you stop by JREF Richard.
