FBI's Anthrax Media Strategy Explained

Folks here might find it interesting to read Jay Windley's analysis of conspiracist misuse of the Holmesian Maxim

The indirect method of reasoning, expressed in the Holmesian Maxim, requires that we specifically enumerate all the possibilities that may apply to the observation -- whether or not we favor them. And it requires us to know conclusively that we have considered all of them. In an artificial context such as mathematics, blessed with rigid definitions, this assurance of completeness is easy to come by. Not so in the "messy" real world.

If Dr. Ivins did it, why wasn't he taking Cipro like Dick Cheney was?

why would he need to? being experienced in handling Anthrax, im sure he took precautions so that he wouldn't ingest it.

seriously, this is not a conspiracy (doesn't even belong in the 911 conspiracy forum for sure) and there is CLEAR evidence that Irvins was apart of it.

you denial is a sign of your ignorance.

No credible evidnece points to Dr. Ivins, a loyal Amecian with 33 years of government service, with his colleagues 100% behind him. He was not in NJ when the anthrax letters were mailed, nor does he have a motive, plus the letters were in someone else's handwriting.

Please spare us your hatred of America. Not even the grand jury believed the evidence or returned an indictment.

I think I saw this post under the wikipedia entry for DENIAL and DELUSIONAL.

I would LOVE to hear what Holmes would have to say about the Truthers and their "logic".

On second though, he might have already said it:

Bleat, Watson, Pure Bleat

Its called context, bub. Working late at an anthrax lab just before anthrax is mailed out killing five people is suspicious and worthy of investigation. I spose if you were the FBI you would have ignored this lead and consulted David Icke instead?

Well they might of well have done for what 5? years it would have saved them a lawsuit.

The problem with any conspiracy theory is that an innocent Dr. Ivins doesn't mean anything. The FBI screwed up once perhaps they did again but so? Just means that the person behind the attacks is rather good at hideing their tracks. It happens.

this was supposed to be in "conspiracy theories", not "9/11 conspiracy theories".

Someone must have moved it on me, or hacked into my computer.

Yes. Mulder and Scully must have secretly hacked into your computer.

Don't you all get it? If there is any doubt that Ivins is guilty that automatically means that Cheney did it.

Can't you all see the BIG picture?

the anthrax mystery is solved. game over.

Anthrax suspect passed 2 polygraphs

Handwriting analysis also failed to tie Ivins to letters

August 07, 2008

WorldNetDaily

Casting further doubt on the FBI's anthrax case, accused government scientist Bruce Ivins passed two polygraph tests and a handwriting analysis comparing samples of his handwriting to writing contained in the anthrax letters, U.S. officials familiar with the investigation say.

The Justice Department yesterday closed the case, announcing the late "Dr. Ivins was the only person responsible for these attacks."

Ivins passed the first polygraph to satisfy a security requirement prior to working with the FBI as part of a team of scientists at the Fort Detrick, Md., lab who originally helped analyze the anthrax letters. He passed a second exam after he became a suspect.

WND has learned that the FBI was so frustrated with the exam results that last October authorities asked a judge for permission to search Ivins' home and vehicles specifically for evidence of any materials, such as books, that would have helped him "defeat a polygraph."

Also, officials confirm that FBI handwriting analysts were unable to conclusively match samples of Ivins' handwriting with the writing on the anthrax envelopes and letters, which sounded as if they were written by jihadist accomplices of the 9/11 hijackers. The crude notes declared: "DEATH TO AMERICA. DEATH TO ISRAEL. ALLAH IS GREAT."

READ THE REST! GAME OVER!!

I throught fbi did not have a clue, and simply picked him because he was dead.

Thanks for putting it in propper CT perspective. ;)

So, how did cheney do it? :)

what was Ivins motive?
and what evidence proved him guilty?

1.None
2.Nothing

The FBI obviously thought Hatfill was a much better suspect than this guy. And look where that got them.

As a taxpayer, a point i feel compelled to make is that at least the new suspect wont cost me any money.

The FBI was investigating both Hatfill and Ivins for a while. The investigation into Hatfill turned up that he wasn't the guy. During the investigation, information was leaked and this damaged Hatfill hence the money that was paid to him. The investigation into Ivins was revealing information and the state was getting ready prosecute, potentially seeking the death penalty. Then he killed himself. Where is the big conspiracy here? Ivins felt pressure from a government investigation and in his fragile state (possibly brought on by this investigation) killed himself.

The bs on Hatfield was not passively leaked, it was intentionally leaked by the FBI to destroy Hatfield's reputation. The people who leaked it have never been hunted down and brought to justice.

Ivins could not have committed suicide. The social worker said he was waiting to be indicted, then would kill the people who planted evidence on him. That contradicts suicide. The FBI killed Dr. Ivins before he could reveal who had planted the evidence agianst him. That is the only explanation consistent with the facts.

When you make a serious accusation like that, you have damn well better have solid evidence to back it up.
You don't.
You are both a liar and a slanderer. The FBI is not beyond criticism... I have plenty of bad things to say about the way they bungled some investigation..but this not legit criticism, it is conspriacy crap of the worst kind.

If the FBI can accuse people of mass murder, then so can I. Ever heard of equal protection of the laws?

Tha FBI is accountable to the people, they have the burden of proof. The people can accuse the FBI all they want to, freedom of speech is legal and I'm not on taxpayer payroll.

If someone in the FBI made a accusation of mass murder without evidence to back it up, he would be in a world of trouble.
I suggest you do the same or lose what little reputation you have here.
Please give me one piece of solid evidence that the FBI killed Ivins. I won't hold my breath.
