Fox News racist or just hates Obama?

They've consistently attempted to portray Obama as a terrorist or possible terrorist ties. When called on it, they apologize.
As to the second sentence, not always. Shortly after Insight Mag / Fox & Friends placed Obama in a madrassa, the story was debunked on the scene (by AP and CNN). F&F's non correction of the record was fairly pathetic. (Again, I wish I could locate the disappeared youtube.) They reported that the Obama camp denies the rumors, making no mention of the fact that the rumors were debunked on the ground.

And FOX News Chris Wallace appeared on FOX & Friends to reprimand Alisyn Camerota, Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson, Brian Kilmeade, etc on their inane characterizations of Obama. When did any MSNBC on air reporter/host ever reprimand Olbermann, Matthews, or David Shuster for their outrageous remarks regarding Clinton or McCain?

John Gibson also flogged the story. His response to the on-the-scene reporting by AP and CNN?

According to Gibson the reporter probably attended the same madrassa as Obama.

True. <claps hands>

When did any MSNBC on air reporter/host ever reprimand Olbermann, Matthews, or David Shuster for their outrageous remarks regarding Clinton or McCain?
I dunno. If you can name one or more equally egregious examples, we can look back and see how they were responded to.

In what way do the incidents mentioned in the OP, or the Obama = islamist sleeper agent smear, have to do with "opposition to a candidate" in any reasonable sense?

Since I can't crawl into people's minds I can't know for sure their motivations. Racism? Islamophobia? I dunno. But I know an ugly smear when I see one, and this sort of speech shouldn't be defended as acceptable political discourse.

Your PC monitor for on air pundits/reporters/journalists perceived political hate speech seems to have a severely limited range. Where was your outrage when Keith Olbermann called for Hillary's permanent elimination as in a mob rub out?

You manage to simultaneously slap your own hand for not knowing what is in the minds of others while you offer up two loaded pejoratives. Better stick with your first inclination and save the conjecture for the professionals like David Ray Griffin.

Is Fox News racist? You probably couldn't point to a single racist in the organization. Is Fox News being racially provacative? You bet your sweet bippy.

Well, Obama has just crossed the threshold of racial provocation with his "too many single black mothers" speech today. While Bill Cosby has been saying this for years, we will see how the black community will react to this splash of cold water in their faces from the likely next U.S. president.

I am sure they will react just fine.

If stubborn consistency is the hobgoblins of little minds, then I'm equally sure Professor Eric Dyson will be forthcoming with his intellectual conjugation of black history to condemn Obama for his comments just as he did when Cosby said the same thing.

"Dyson acknowledged that as a comic, Mr. Cosby was a genius, but said that as a social critic, he was misinformed. He chided Mr. Cosby not only for being sloppy but for speaking nationally. Mr. Dyson offered an analogy of the Reverend Jesse Jackson's about the choice of offering a shovel or a rope to someone stuck in a hole. "I think Cosby threw down a shovel," he said"

Yes, a standing ovation. A real slap in the face...

Though Obama and Cosby had some themes in common, they were different speeches.

Obama said:
CHICAGO - In a Father's Day address heavy with personal and political meaning, Democrat Barack Obama told worshipers at a Chicago church Sunday that government must do more to help families---but he also exhorted parents, especially fathers, to play their part by raising healthy children.

In a popular South Side church, Obama (D-Ill.) decried the shortage of police on the streets and money for schools, as well as a proliferation of guns in the wrong hands.

Linky.

Meanwhile Cosby ranted about the youth culture where men beat up women because they don't have jobs because they didn't want education, and they're music is too full of foul language, and they name their kids silly things, and young women pump out six babies, blah blah blah.

Cosby was more separated from reality, because all the things he talked about have been decreasing for a long time. He pretty much blamed everything on the parents and the kids. Obama said that there are other factors to be fixed, and the parents have a part too.

Cosby's message was different. He cast blame not on absent parents but on parents he characterized as unfit and as poor examples to their children. He cast blame on the children themselves for limiting their opportunities by dressing funny and using poor grammar. He expressed no sympathy for people who have been stuck in a cycle of poverty and poor education for generations.

In principle, I agree with Cosby's underlying argument--that if people spent more energy on finding a way out of the hole and less on blaming people for putting them there, they'd be much better off. But his remarks were inflammatory and did little to help people make that shift in mindset.

Obama's message was that parents should take responsibility for their kids. His was a message chiding moms and dads who make no effort to throw their kids a rope.

Where Cosby was a scolding, grumpy old fart, Obama was a tough-loving, wise old coach.

Cosby is 71 and Obama is 46, yet they are both "old?" Obama was Ivy League educated while Cosby went to the inner city Temple University. I wonder which one of these guys experienced true racism growing up? Cosby was the only black co-star on TV in 1965. Obama was learning how to walk at that time. Obama may be many things, but wisdom is not one of his attributes. Maybe after his first term as president, we may be able to see if he can claim to possess common sense.

You mean this is no longer a valid appraisal? Since when?

So is Obama now to be guilty of someone liking him and someone else who is less desirable by the public at large? How should he pay for this "Guilt by associated like"?

What is worse depends on your opinion, thanks for yours. 1.

Good. So then you think both him and McCain are Earnest (you made a point of making the same comment about McCain below, almost in a way of distinguishing him from Obama). 2

Has he ever held a job?? how do mean? Like working ad McDonalds or something, or digging ditches? Do either of them have to be a blue collar worker in order to run the USA? 3

He didn't ask you or anyone to "Shed a tear" but rather it is done to counter any idea that he comes from some "silver spoon" background. Your annoyance with his background are noted. 4

are you going to leave such a statement without example or proof. Pretty weak statement if you leave it at that. 5

BS. He was a state senator for years before his Federal post. He has had plenty of time. You don't have to be in your 60's or 70's to be the leader of a country. 6

Not gonna happen at Fixed Noise. 7

Like I said earlier, you said you find Obama earnest. He has 3 years in Federal office. 8

I hope you are right, i fear you are wrong. 9

I think if there were another "Rev Wright" sized story, they would have brought it out by now. To bring it out before the convention would do her more harm then good. 10

1. No big secret. Their dislike is not comparable to MSNBC's dislike of McCain. So the cable people are biased? It ain't hate, rosebud.

2. How do you reconcile your assessment that I make a difference between McCain's and Obama's earnestness when I say they're both earnest? Hmmm...sounds like you're misinterpreting.

3. No, neither has to have held a job, in fact I can't think of the last president who did. But any claims of connecting with the blue-collar vote by either candidate (and McCaine doesn't even try) is falling flat. No jobs, no real-world experience in anythng other than the academe and politics. Elitist? Oh, yeah.

4. Yes. CNN, Fox, MSNBC (well, not MSBNC is much, as they're all opinon) have an obligation to report NEWS, and the rest, O'Reilly, Olberman, Mathews, Hannity and Colmes, are ALL OPINION. The line is clear, and if you confuse Olberman and O'Reilly with news, you should buy my share of Coney Island. The "baby's mama" as opposed to the "babies mama" is quite frankly, reaching. First, they sound exactly the same in speech, which must have been when this was uttered, as we would have an issue had it been written out. Second, that is just plain clodpole paranoid, looking-for-victimhood reasoning. Give me a break, please.

5. Don't quite understand your point. That the Tailwind scandel was made up news (google it) is pretty much history. As for Dan Rather and the letter-gate thing (as it was incorrectly called) that also is history. Even the guy who furnished Rather the documation said as much The letters purpoting to be to Bush's CO were printed on a computer printer in a font that did not exist at the time they were supposed to have been written.

I take nothing for fact, and the support is there if you will just google. Tail WIND, not Tailhook.

6. BS back. I know State Senators, and they work maybe 12 weeks a year, four or five hours a day, and are concerned with Illinois affairs. A governor has more credibilty, and a US Senator or a Rep has loads more.

7. Or Mostly Communist Negative Broadcast Company. Let's get cute with acronyms?

8. That's why they call him "Freshman Senator." Earnest is no substitute for experienced.

9. No, I'm right. No doubt about it.

10. Think tactics. Now is not the time for bad news, too much time to discount it before November. Google "October Surprise."

You will know who (if any) leaked news by the timing. If before the Democratic Convention, HRC. If in October, the Republicans.

I hope I did not confuse your questions with those of another poster who did about the same kind of riposte.

I agree. I assume this has more to do with idiocy than racism.

Now, what about the other examples. Like, the evidence you requested yet ignored.

(And while you're not answering that question maybe you could also not answer the other questions I've posed.)

:D

My comment was about the nature of each man's rebuke, not a literal description of the man.

I made a mistake in my last post addressed to you Cicero. I gave you too much wiggle room to move the goalposts.

To test for equivalence, we would need to select one or more incidents where you think a pundit on another network has been let off the hook. Then we would need to compare (1) punishment from network, (2) condemnation from colleagues, and (3) quality/sincerity of apology/correction. (The reason #3 is important is because if someone is contrite, offended colleagues are less apt to be making comments.)

But since this is a bit of a derail due to your tu quoque argument, perhaps you should start a new thread.

Your PC monitor for on air pundits/reporters/journalists perceived political hate speech seems to have a severely limited range. Where was your outrage when Keith Olbermann called for Hillary's permanent elimination as in a mob rub out?
I have no interest in your mind reading / remote viewing efforts. Take it to the paranormal section.

Refresh my memory...what information did I request of you? BTW, the debate(?) over the motherhood of one or possibly two children is what? I never heard of it being an issue, except by Olberman.

Whaddya know. Howdy Gene!

Given that we've had a communications breakthrough, I'm going to do some legwork for you again -- against my better judgment.

I raised Fox's touting of Obama = Islamanchurian here. You asked for evidence here. I provided it here. See also this, this and this.

Attentiveness isn't your strong suit.

No wonder you redacted the second paragraph in my above post #85 because it deals with your unctuous disclaimer about not possessing mind-reading powers when you then ruminated that "Racism" and, or, "Islamophobia" as the reason why FOX & Friends made juvenile comments about Obama.

You definitely qualify for the Dionne Warwick school of crystal ball reading, or is it tea leaves in your case?
