Fox News racist or just hates Obama?

Obama as a sleeper is absurd. I've never heard Fox News opine that, but would like to see proof if they did. The facts are this: there are plenty of reasons to opose Obama that do NOT condern his race: lack of experience, his troubling associations with people like Louis Farrahkahn, a far-out left agenda, statements made by him against his own interest.

So, race would be far at the bottom of the list. As for me, I couldn't care less that he's half African, half Caucasian. It's his politics, stupid (to paraphrase an old campaign slogan.)

Hate is a stong word. Is everyone comfortable with using a verb that extreme? Those who are probably throw around words like "maximun", "outrage, " and "ultimate."

I think the notion that just because Michele Obama referred to her husband as "my baby's daddy" that referring to Michelle Obama as Barak's "baby momma" if fair use is frankly absurd. A term of affection used between a husband and wife does not make an appropriate moniker for a news station. If Barbara Bush had referred to George Sr. as "Georgie porgie," would Fox have come up with the headline "Georgie porgie: Saddam must go!"? I don't think so.

A co-worker did this to me once. He heard my wife call me by a pet name, and so he started using it. (I hope you understand why I do not repeat it here, given the maturity of some of the members). He had no clue how offensive this was. One expects a higher level of insight from producers of a news show. Even on Fox

Clearly, this was another attempt by someone at Fox to portray Obama as the SCARY BLACK DIFFERENT THAN US candidate. They will try to make him too black, too elitist, too liberal, too ghetto...whatever it takes...to distract people from his policies, because if the race is run on policies McCain doesn't have a prayer.

Not "black" news, just news. "My baby's daddy" isn't any kind of slang I've ever heard. It was part of a saying 50 years ago, when "I think I'll go home and play with the baby's mama," was part of GI slang.

Keith Oberman, who should avoid wearing blue suits around Obama, tried manfully...if that's the right gender...to portray Fox news as using this to an atempt to say Obama was "too black to be president." That's Oberman, a real posey. He also with a serious mein attacked Sen. Clinton for a reference to Bobby Kennedy. He sounded ridiculous trying to look like a guy who's offended. The feud between Fox and MSNBC is a patent attempt at ratings. Neither network is made better for it.

Disturing is the fact that some here, including apparently the previous poster, have bought this crappola. I'm a skeptic, and on a board I thought was for skeptics. Looks like some are hearing tunes from the pied piper.

Fox News will say whatever is in accordance with achieving its main objective: scoring ratings. The higher the ratings, the more they can charge for advertising.

With these racist statements, Fox has ensured that it will be viewed by plenty of Barack Obama supporters waiting for the next outrage. It has also massaged the beliefs of some of their primary demographic, the center-right in this country. People with eyes on the television are watching the commercials. I expect that Fox will exploit this murky no-man's-land of racial banter/bashing in this country until the liabilities are too much to deal with.

Is Fox News racist? You probably couldn't point to a single racist in the organization. Is Fox News being racially provacative? You bet your sweet bippy.

Very much agree on the Olbermann thing - he has gone way too far on the Clinton thing - I used to watch him almost daily. Haven't watched his show at all in over two weeks now - filled that time with better activity.

As to hate, though, there are a number of things I will use hate easily in reference to my feelings toward - just for example: G. Bush and his B-boys, rapists, torturers (of people other than murderers, etc.), active pedophiles, kidnappers, gang members, terrorists, etc.

I, too, think Fox news is merely doing what it needs to sell. I do not believe they are racist. It's frustrating that the controversial Fox & Friends segment has disappeared from view. I've only been able to locate tiny snippets -- I'm still searching though.

But while I'm searching, maybe you can address the question I posed to you:

In what way do the incidents mentioned in the OP, or the Obama = islamist sleeper agent smear, have to do with "opposition to a candidate" in any reasonable sense?

I, too, think Fox news is merely doing what it needs to sell. I do not believe they are racist. I'm not so sure that this is entirely ratings related. Murdoch has a political agenda as well, and I think it naive to think that his political leanings might not influence the slant of the reporting.

It is one thing for a news organization to have a particular slant, the careful viewer or reader will detect this, but to intentionally present false information is entirely a different matter.

Some news organizations check the facts before they broadcast. It seems at least one plans the lies before they broadcast.

In this matter Fox was not asking if Obama is a Muslim, they were telling lies that he was. Asking a question and telling a lie are not the same.

Sure, you can debate that hate is too strong a word. That's fine. I accept and recognize the criticism. Yet, I noticed you keep avoiding the main point, What is the reason for so many overt gaffes directed towards Obama? A news agency isn't supposed to manufacture the news, are they? It seems that Fox News has an anti-Obama agenda and that this agenda has resulted in racist comments and insinuations of Obama being a terrorist. Perhaps you'd like to justify these behaviors?
