Fox News racist or just hates Obama?

I must admit, it's hard for me to believe that fox news would make such horribly stupid mistakes like this. Are these actually real? One mistake, I can understand, but twice and I start to wonder. Why are these kind of gaffes occuring?

My thought on the subject is simply that Fox news has an agenda to paint Obama in the worst possible and in enacting this policy, some underlings cross the line. I just wonder who will still have the gall to claim that fox news is "fair and balanced"
 
If every criticism of Obama is labeled as a racist attack then he will lose in a landslide. He is either a BLACK candidate for president or he is a candidate for president that happens to be black.
 
So when a news station uses slang that negatively refers to black people, just remember IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE.

Racism is present when you encounter its delusions of Obama as an Islamist. Fear of Obama's black skin colour has become cleverly sheltered behind what they see as legitimate concerns over his childhood schools and Muslim upbringing.

As for Hannity, he has to ask himself why he feels the need to ask tedious and ignorant questions such as 'If I said white values instead of black values, I'd be called a racist!'
 
I'm of two minds on this aspect of the campaign. On the one hand, Fox's overt bias should be denounced by the all parties as being detrimental to a vigorous campaign on the issues. Such an attitude MIGHT contribute to a better electoral process.

On the othe hand, I want the Elephants to fully get on board with Fox and pursue the bottom-feeding portions of the electorate. Younger voters, who already tend toward Obama, will be further turned off. The west, which is already trending from red to purple (to blue?) will be turned off.

The result will be that after 2008 the Republicans will become a regional (southern) party. If they contine down the same path, they will become a Missippi party in 2010 and a Redneck and Hicksville County, MS party in 2012.

OK, that is an exaggeration but you get my point. It the Republicans attack Obama (Barack and Michelle) on non-policy issues in this election cycle they'll lose...not just this election but more to come.

Every criticism of Obama is not labeled racist. These two examples are at least very clueless.

"Baby mama" is not a term I'm familiar with, but who doesn't know what a fist bump is? Have these people never seen a team sport for example? Athletes fist bump all the time.

In the case of "baby mama," its always embarrassing when white people try to use black slang. Since the term means unwed mother and they are clearly wed, it is either a lie or clueless. Probably the latter.

The fist-bump example I wouldn't call racist. The baby-mama comment is. There is no other way around it. Baby momma isn't black slang, it urban slang.

To assume that since Obama is black, it would be appropriate to use that slang is racist.

It would be like f we had an asian candidate running for office, and his wife to be labeled, His Little Geisha-girl.

I don't agree that the term is necessarily racist. My wife and I (and yes we live in an urban area) use the term, as well as "baby daddy", for people of any race so long as they aren't married.

I do think it is insulting to use it for someone for whom it doesn't apply and I think it was intended that way.

Or calling McCain's wife his mistress. That would show a similar level of disrespect.

The only excuse I could see is if, like me, the person who used the term didn't know what it meant. I had some vague idea that it is the name of a movie, but didn't know what it means. It would be clueless to use a term if you don't know what it means or misunderstood what it means. Either way it's not good.

The person who made the terrorist fist jab comment lost her show, so I wouldn't necessarily blame the whole network. I expect somebody will be disciplined somehow for this too.

That's exactly my point. It is used beyond just blacks, yet it was employed here because he is black. If he went arround dressed all hip hop, that would be one thing. But for what reason was Baby-daddy used? He has the label of elitist, so we know it can't be because of his common man ties.

I agree. Although, FOX news has an obvious bias in thier reporting. The pressure to maintain that bias can easily result in these kinds of gaffes.
 
Even if this stuff wasn't racist - what kind of news network considers body language analysis legitimate? What kind of news network feels that using slang in the titles of reports about political matters is appropriate?

What's funny about this is you are trying very hard to bury the idea that the comment was racist*, yet failed to address the much more direct (and what should be the more damning indictment) that I made, that Fox News hates Obama.



*a woman calling herself a slut isn't sexist. A news agency placing slut undereath her picture is.
