There seemed to be some problems with some of the pictures when I looked at them. The Goldfinch, for instance, was a broken link.
In other news, I will be going back to Northern Sweden after Midsummer, participating in a banding/inventory/field study project on Lapponian birds of prey, including Merlin Falco subbuteo, Snowy Owl Bubo scandiaca, Rough-legged Buzzard Buteo lagopus, Short-eared Owl Asio flammeus and Kestrel Falco tinnunculus. We will also bo banding crows, fieldfares, and, if my contact there (the leader of the project) can get the right permission, all kinds of Lapponian birds, time allowing.
If anyone is interested to come along, he is still looking for more assistants this summer. As I understand it, he will be there from about 10th of June to the end of July or beginning of August. No salary is paid, but travel, lodgings and food are provided. I doubt he is willing to pay for the trip from wherever you live to Sweden, though, but in case anyone is interested, PM me for contact details. He prefers people who can stay for more than a week, especially those who can stay for more than two or three weeks (I'll be there for about three weeks). He has already guaranteed about a dozen Merlins, and the same amount of crows and many more fieldfares. The rest cannot be guaranteed, but this year has been a very good year for lemmings, so he felt there was good chances for them. It also depends a bit on what people are prepared to do.
The area in question is on the border to Norway, in Padjelanta National Park. The last leg of the trip there has to be done by helicopter. That means that I will not have internet access (and probably not mobile phone coverage). The day after I get home, I will go to Germany for at least two weeks to visit my girlfriend, and will likely not have internet access regularly during that time either. The same goes for late August to late October, when I am on Okinawa, Hokkaido, and Kyushu. It would be nice if we could somehow solve the question of updating the list during that time.
