From the Quran:


Surah an-Nur 24, verse 31 reads:

And say to the faithful women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their beauty except what is apparent of it, and to extend their headcoverings (khimars) to cover their bosoms, and not to display their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments. And turn in repentance to God together, O you the faithful, in order that you are successful.

Surah al-Ahzab 33, verse 59 reads:

O Prophet! Say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the faithful to draw their outergarments (jilbabs) close around them; that is better that they will be recognized and not annoyed. And God is ever Forgiving, Gentle.
 
Well Sunni Man, if you are going to ignore my questions, you're arguments can be dismissed as meaningless.

The Hadith is not part of the Koran. Please explain why you thought it was.

We can only hope that internet pr0n and MMORPGs will eventually unseat these barbarians from their religious rage. I say give them all air conditioners, uber wi-fi, and a copy of World of Warcraft. Problem solved!

I was joking, meaning to say that I think a lot of the reason why Islam in the middle east is so violent and oppressive, is because the people lead miserable lives. Radical Islam is spreading out into the countries with the poorest inhabitants with the lowest quality of life. More moderate Islam tends to be seen in the US and UK where people tend to be fatter and happier. I agree that the entire thing is a crock however, just like every other major religion.

The Hadith is not based on the Koran in any way. It is a completely seperate compendium of the teachings of Muhammed.

As a Muslim I can assure you that all Hadith is based on the Quran.

Who ever told you different is mistaken and misinformed.

As Wikipedia confirms it is not based on the Koran, but is
just a later supplement.

And may I say how much you disgust me before I leave.
 
The hadith Ahmed, Vol. 1, page 171 says: "Do not write down anything of me except the Qur'an. Whoever writes other than that should delete it."

Some have interpreted this as the Hadith should never have been written.

It seems to me that adults should not react like overgrown children when their feelings are hurt. Children lash out when their feelings are hurt by someone saying mean things. Adults are supposed to be able to act in a more mature manner.

Someone makes fun of you, your religion, or your "prophet" person, and you have no right to do ANYTHING to them in response. Period.
 
I would be interested in your take on the whole cartoon fiasco. If I read your previous posts correctly, you are a white man, raised in the US, formerly christian who has now converted to Islam. Is that correct?

I would think you might have an interesting perspective given your experiences.
