Director James Cameron rewrites religion!

Is this in the right place? I guess so as he is making some outlandish claims.Claims to have found remains of Jesus!

I've seen that story all over the web and I think it really proves one thing. The press does not really care about what they print.

I will buy that you could read the names on the coffins. I will buy that you could compare the DNA of each and determine that they are related and that one of them is the son of two others.

But I cannot fathom how he claims to be able to tell it is 'That Jesus' unless he is wearing a name tag that says Mr. J.H. Christ.

But worse I don't see why the claim is being treated like a serious news story (other than any mention of Jesus is sure to get everyone's attention).

Sounds like a fun documentary, just as long as Celine Dion's not on the soundtrack...

Names on the coffins and genetic relationships matching biblical accounts could in itself be statistically improbable enough to be very noteworthy. I'd at least like to see an expert analysis of the statistical odds.

I'm not opposed to their being a real person behind the mythical accounts of Jesus Christ. It's not that improbable, although I sincerely doubt that this documentary will offer any kind of concrete proof.

When debating with Christians, I take the position that evidence for the existence of Christ is scarce, but in the event that serious corroborating accounts of his life ever emerge, it will only validate that the religion was based around the legend of the man, as with Mohammed, Buddha and countlesss other messiahs, some of whom were certainly real people.

Beady i just remembered this one:
:)
Pope: That's the problem.
Michelangelo: What is?
Pope: The disciples.
Michelangelo: Are they too Jewish? I made Judas the most Jewish.
Pope: No, it's just that there are twenty-eight of them.
Michelangelo: Oh, well, another one will never matter, I'll make the kangaroo into another one.
Pope: No, that's not the point.
Michelangelo: All right. Well, I'll lose the kangaroo. Be honest, I wasn't perfectly happy with it.
Pope: That's not the point. There are twenty-eight disciples!
Michelangelo: Too many?
Pope: Well, of course it's too many!
Michelangelo: Yeah, I know that, but I wanted to give the impression of a real last supper. You know, not just any old last supper. Not like a last meal or a final snack. But you know, I wanted to give the impression of a real mother of a blow-out, you know?
Pope: There were only twelve disciples at the last supper.
Michelangelo: Well, maybe some of the others ones came along afterw...
Pope: There were only twelve altogether.
Michelangelo: Well, maybe some of their friends came by, you know?
Pope: Look! There were just twelve disciples and our Lord at the last supper. The Bible clearly says so.
Michelangelo: No friends?
Pope: No friends.
Michelangelo: Waiters?
Pope: No.
Michelangelo: Cabaret?
Pope: No!
Michelangelo: You see, I like them, they help to flesh out the scene, I could lose a few, you know I could...
Pope: Look! There were only twelve disciples at...

But you cut it off before my favoite part.

Pope: There were 12 disciples and one Christ!
Mike: ONE!
Pope: Yes, one. What made you think it was ok to paint 3 Christs?
Mike: The two skinny ones help balance out the fat one.

Just was walking out of the snack shop here after getting my afternoon chocolate custard ice cream cone, and there on CNN was the same story..didn't stick around long enough to hear much, just that James Cameron was somehow involved...:boggled:

Ya know...there is no way that that body is going to be identified as Jesus. There is no way that the religious will let that happen but could you imagine the giant sucking sound that would make if it could be? The giant sucking sound of the air leaving the Jesus myth, Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling, Forty years of darkness, Earthquakes, volcanoes, The dead rising from the grave, Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria! It would be awesome! (apologies to Ghost Busters)

So the whole empty tomb found by Mary Magdalene was a hoax then? Perpertrated by the Romans no doubt as an excuse for an illegal war into Judea(I have no idea.....)

I'll get me coat...:D

Well, it's hardly a new idea. The Passover Plot has been around for a long time, and for that matter, so has Tom Robbins's Another Roadside Attraction.

The notion that skeptics will jump on this as evidence there wasn't a resurrection seems pretty silly. Golly, if only they hadn't found the box, I'd have bought right into the whole resurrection thing. Damn those pesky archeologists.

Giant sucking sound?? I humbly disagree. Finding Christ's body would not make ONE SINGLE, SOLITARY, IOTA of a difference to the true believers. Not one. Not any. None. Nope.
