Here's a conspiracy theory (take it with a grain of salt, I mean no disrespect to Dan's memory):
After this debate with Mark, realizing that he didn't have a clue about the NIST report, and thinking that he would think for himself instead of listening to Dylan, Dan decides to read the NIST report, or at least starts to. He discusses what he's reading with Dylan. "I told you not to read that ********, Dan! Stop it and forget about it, it's not important!"... But Dan keeps on reading and realizes that, maybe, just maybe, his father didn't die at the hands of the government...
Days later (or weeks, I don't know the timeline), Dan dies in his sleep, of yet unknown causes...
