Has Pdoh gone stark raving sane?

I'm surprised that this is even up for discussion. He lied repeatedly, got caught lying repeatedly, and acted like a buffoon through several incarnations here. Sure, most of his lies were about his fake identities and he was reasonably good at lying about his sex, his age, his location, his identity, etc., but does being a good liar somehow qualify him for exceptional treatment here, such that his numerous prior bans should be lifted just because he purports to have changed his mind about conspiracy theories v. reality?

I'm surprised to see that some skeptics here are so readily willing to believe his alleged epiphany made on another forum without any substantiation whatsoever, and without even a single question, and I'm surprised that some skeptics here are willing to accept same as proof of anything at all, let alone proof of an epiphany so amazing that the rules of the board should be suspended in his honour.

Meh - enough. I'm not going to comment any further on these particular threads. I realize that by even responding here, I have contributed to his ego feeding frenzy and I am not going to do so any longer. That said, I will, of course, respond to PMs.

I, for one, ain't buying P'doh's reformation. He's already playing games on the thread he confessed on (taking potshots at various participants). He says he won't return to JREF, but he's already tried to return multiple times.

This is just a game to him. It might be that he never bought the CT line and this was just performance art for him. But either way, I have no desire to see him around.

For those open to a probationary period, in a sense he already has one. He can sign up on other skeptical sites (with one, consistent name) and make his arguments there. He can also make those very same arguments at the CT sites. Let him do that for a year and then we could, if we wanted to, come back to evaluate the situation.

It's not that we're willing to believe his epiphany without reservation, it's that we're willing to give him a chance to prove that it's for real.

Of course, since he's said over at LC that he doesn't want to be re-instated, it's pretty much a moot point.
 
Why anyone would believe a committed liar like Mr. Doherty is beyond me. Even if he has changed his mind on some issues, it's all just a game to him, and a way to keep people talking about him. He thinks 9/11 is all about him. Disgusting.

He's also stated over here, sometimes twenty times in twenty minutes, "I'm out of here - enough of you people....", or something to that extent.

He and LC read these boards, so I'm sure while they're arguing away over at LC they have no idea that he's reading through all of this, wetting himself with excitement at all the attention this change of spots is garnering.

So what if he's 'fessed up? They'll never find the other moles we have over there since the beginning until they reveal themselves and bring the whole thing down around their ears!

I don't think he should be trusted at all. And I hadn't thought about the attention seeking part until now. Makes me sick.

He's banned - we should leave it that way. If he came back supporting us, I wouldn't welcome it at all due to his horrible persona and attitude. I don't think this fabulous board should be associated with anyone like that one way or another.

He wasn't banned for opinions. He was banned for behavior.
How does changing his opinion change his behavior?
Behavior has consequences, both on the net and in real life.

He says as much, but he's snuck back with sock puppets a few times. Makes me questions the integrity of that statement.

Switching sides could certainly be just another one of his many games. Trying for reinstatement at the JREF forums due to his change of opinion, could easily be a trick to prove that OSers aren't as impartial as they like to believe and will unban you if you convert to their side.
 
Some of you may think I'm mad for suggesting the "stundie" banning should be reassessed.

I used to want to believe in the whole 'lost civilisation', Atlantis, alien-built pyramids net bandwagon about 8 years ago, for about a year or less. I'm hoping that the younger, more resiliant twoofers will have a similar 'wake-up call' moment to mine, and realise that all the leaps of faith they've taken do not add up to a coherent world-view, or verifiable theory, and that every single leap of faith has a rational explanation that is centred in an unparanoid understanding of reality.

I liked the way you succinctly put it, "I was arguing with the rational side of myself".

I like the way that you have pursued the conspiracy angle to it's utmost, asked questions and found answers, instead of ignoring them. The LCers that are now telling you to 'f off' and calling you a shill/JREFer seem to be threatened by their uncertainties. Why shouldn't you tell the truth now? You made quite a show of being a believer, so it makes sense to announce your new beliefs just as publicly, and kudos to you for your honesty.

I just caught this thread and have to ask some of you guys - why do you care? Can we stop acting like such nerdy friends and schoolkids in an arguement and be adults? He was an @ss and got a ban. Bad luck. Its the rules. How hard is it to follow the rules that allow for everyone to get along? The bloke continues to insult those who have any association with the JREF from his little room at home. I agree with some of the people who have posted in the thread - why the hell is anyone even considering it? JREF is not a 'club' or sports team. Its a great place to have civil debate, within standards of basic nettiquette.

The people over there dont need netiquette and emotional morals taught through a forum, they need to learn some real life lessons. They treat people like utter rubbish all from the comfort of a keyboard and monitor. I tried once to be rational over there and got banned, I have never bothered to go back and post. Why waste my time on it.
