gay games: utter failure

which are monolithically heterosexual in mainstream games.

prompted

You're kidding, right? Aren't a lot of male figure skaters gay? This is a joke, right?

and

Ice skating, "monolithically heterosexual?"

Surely you jest. (Or, things have changed while I wasn't paying attention.)

I see sarcasm is a lost art these days. He could be talking about figure skating, or he could be talking about how the Olympics have an active ban on gay people participating, or even attending.

I think they should force those that regally participate in sports to pay for it. And they can stop bothering us by canceling the London Marathon for the next 10 years.

I don't see why Quebec couldn't just repeat what they did to pay off the massive debts from the '76 Olympics, and have an extra tax on tobacco.

Isn't that what you want, a tax on fags?

I was really being half serious about that no parade for 10 year remark. Of course you can't refuse anyone's right to express themselves.

It just "bums" me out that I have to pay for this futile endeavour that I didn't even agree to in the first place. It's their mistake, they should pay for it (not only the gays, but the idiot authorities who financed it).

I feel the same way about the 2012 Olympics. I wasn't joking at all in my post (OK maybe a little bit).

Which gays?

REALLY???!!!

Carl Lewis is gay. He was never banned. I realized he's had trouble getting sponsors because of his sexual orientation, which is a damn shame. Same with Greg Louganis (pronounced loo-gayness) Sawry;) .

Even more farfetched is you are saying gays cannot ATTEND???!!!

What, I would have had to show my "hetero-pass" at the ticket counter at the Athens games before ATTENDing an event?

And I always thought Olympic wrestling in Greece was how they separated the men from the boys.;)

Sounds like it's too late, and you're already going to pay. Perhaps the city/province has a chance to sue the organizers because of some breach, but I doubt they have a case or that the organizers have any money anway. As for "the gays," there is no such entity. If there was, they would have money, since they don't spend what they earn raising children, for the most part. My only suggestion is to vote the bums out.

A wilting flower, besides being a real flower, is an overly sensitive person who's sensibilities are easily damaged. But that was just a joke, and not important. My question about why the gay parade bothers you still stands though.

I agree with hgc  Did I just say that?

It gives gay people a chance to compete in sports like gymnastics and ice skating, which are monolithically heterosexual in mainstream games.

People ARE usually hetero, so statistically, any common event will appear "monolithically hetero." Nothing stops gay people from participating in the normal Olympics, at least not to my knowledge; so I don't personally see the need for the Outgames.

But, I don't personally have a problem with them staging the Outgames, and the fact that it flopped is just one of those things. They tried it, it didn't work. Oh well. Just to be clear, I pay taxes here, too. It was an attempt to stage an event that would potentially attract tourism, and that's fine with me.

Yep, (another) failed venture. How did the FINA Aquatic World (?) Championships fare financially again? What about all those other big projects (like those N film festivals)? It is a pain when they fail and cost taxpayers money, but it is pretty much unavoidable. Quebec invests a lot of public money into private enterprise, sometimes it pays, sometimes it doesn't. That is the nature of the system...

"the gays", haha, I love "the rednecks".

I know, why don't you just levvee a hefty tax on all purchases of astroglide and dildos and use the money to offset the deficit. That'll fix them gays good.

That's homophobic of you! Straight women use dildos, too, ya know.

You're right! Fine, it will be a tax only on "strap-on's" then.

In regards to my homophobia, the gay's started it when they, as a group, collectively, conspired to scam the local economy of Montreal!

They must be taught a lesson.
