Sheehan Fasts for Peace

Perhaps, seriously speaking, the loss of her son caused Sheehan to have some sort of mental breakdown, which, if hardly a reason to take her rantings seriously, is at least a reason not to judge her too harshly for it.

I think we can judge the media that keeps the spotlight on her, and the special interest groups that keep promoting her for their cause.

The counter-demonstrators also consumed moderate amounts of alcoholic beverages, including Genesee Cream Ale[...]
:jaw-dropp

My gawd BPSCG, and here you're calling Sheehan deranged? Has that Genny ale turned your intestines inside out yet?

If she takes it far enough, she could get a feeding tube forced down her throat. This could turn into an anti-war and right-to-die protest!

What would right wing nuts like Pat Robertson do? He wouldn't know whether to speak out for or against her! I think his head would explode. :boggled:

I'm afraid I simply do not trust news reports that don't even include a reporter name, nevermind other cites.

Does taking peaceful measures to stop the pointless and unjustified war that got her son killed equate with insanity in your view?

I drank Genny Cream when I was in college. Therefore it must be good.

I'll accept that explanation if you can show or link to a picture of King Saud walking hand-in-hand with another head of state during an official state visit. If not, I'll stick to my assertion.

Got the last on ... :) ... I won't mention it to our Aussie brethern
How about taking his own word for it?

WALTERS: When you visited President Bush this past April, there were photographs of you and the president holding hands. This is not a gesture common among American men. Did it have significance?

ABDULLAH: Yes. In our culture, holding hands is a sign of friendship and a sign of loyalty and you do it with people dear to you. And President Bush is a friend whose friendship I value and … and treasure.

No, I have concluded the war is pointless and unjustified. :-p However, It's Ms. Sheehan we're talking about here, and she is excersizing her right to polticial expression in a peaceful manner. I don't see the problem.

I don't think ANYONE sees a problem. IMHO, the debate is more along the lines of what, if anything, should we interprit as her message, and maybe as an addendum what effectiveness they hold. But she is most certainly entitled to the freedom to take any and all the actions she has.

And some folks here (like me) are excersizing our right to say she's a nut. There are plenty of anti-war protesters who aren't nuts.

Agreed.

Skeptic seems to thhink she's suffered a mental breakdown.

On what grounds do you think she's nuts? What exactly has she done that constitutes "crazy?"
Her behavior is potentially harmful to herself. I don't think this is crazy but some people might call such behavior pathological.

Do you think potentially harmful behavior is pathological?

"Potentially" harmful? In that she might starve to death? Hmmm, good point.

ETA: I remember doing a double-take when I heard her describe New Orleans as "occupied." That's truly moonbat territory.

That she lay on her son's grave, kissed a political figure you dislike, and is on a hunger strike is grounds to label her insane? Was Ghandi insane?

It worked for Ghandi and Chavez, will it work for Cindy and the other protestors?

No. The only peace we'll have from this is the lowered volume from Sheehan and her celebrity wingnut entourage, but only until they motor past one too many McDonald's.

Neither will it accomplish her more likely objective, which is to get her mug back on page one, BTW.
