Illegal Immigrants Plan to Boycott May 1

A great many of ours ARE, in fact as tresspassers as lawbreakers they ARE criminals, is that too hard for you?

Delphi I have the utmost respect for you, but you MUST understand the suffering we are going through here at the moment, the last twelve years have been HELL

I record bands for a living, so yes I am an idiot, but I am an observant one

Our working bands are GONE. In the last three years I had ONE

Even at 500 dollar a plate resort restaraunts, the illegals are the staff...BS that they couldnt pay an american to work that

COnstruction jobs, except finish work and a VERY few other specialties are gone

GONE

Now I record parents who are living thru their kids

But a look around at any area here will tell you the same sort of story

And please all of you STOP throwing the issue of immigration in with this, noone has a problem with immigrants, this is an immigrant country

We should NOT have to coddle criminals

We should not be paying a fine of ONE MILLION DOLLARS a day because we can no longer afford to teach illegal tresspassers in spanish

too bad
If the same number of people legally immigrated, would you have a problem with that?

I think you're being intellectually dishonest.
And I think you smell like meatloaf. That doesn't make it true.
You won't respond to main points or questions even though I respond to everything you say.
I have responded to your main points. Perhaps you did not like what I had to say.
I admit I made mistakes in the past. I admit they were criminal and immoral. And it's my conscience that reformed my actions.
The same can be said for our illegal immigrants. Calling them criminals over and over again is pointless. Many of them have been here for years contributing to our country. Shipping them away forever over a paperwork crime is unjust and inhumane.

Im not sure. I certainly am not opposed to immigration! The same number though? Can we handle that? ALl at once?

Please understand, I believe this is an immigrant country, and it is why we are so strong, we have the best of the best of everywhere. Maybe we have the worst of the worst as well, but like they say, the cream rises.

This issue for me is NOT about immigratrion. It is about CRIMINALS. Theft. And worse, insult to injury that we must change OUR laws to accomodate criminals

SHow me where Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, Laotian, Cambodian, Korean, Portuguese, German, or African immigrants have FORCED a school system to go WAY WAY WAY beyond their means to teach illegal tresspassers in spanish, nevermind the school system is already destroyed from just paying for all the untaxed bodies in the first place

SHow me where legal immigrants have as a whole worked under the table to the point where tradesemen must leave their crafts en masse. In fact as I understand it, above the table work is part of a requirement for most of those who would like to stay in the country or perhaps to become a citizen?

This crime and theft has become a blight on us. Our economy, infrastructure and even our happiness is severely affected. We are hurting

For someone far away who is probably benefitting from this crime to belittle our suffering is a lot of blaming the victim of a crime which is WHAT WE ARE (not saying you are doing this Delphi). And many holier than thou snots are doing just that

Any more special pleading or completely unbelievable anecdotes you'd like to throw out there?

Prove me wrong...you delight in laughing at raped women too?

Oh, please. First, the onus is on you to provide evidence that your "suffering" is anything other than imagined. (And I mean suffering, not this "boo-hoo, our schools have to pay fines for not obeying the law" crap.) You're making the ridiculous claims, not me.

Second, you're honestly comparing yourself with a raped woman? I seriously urge you to reconsider if you want to be taken remotely seriously.

Something tells me business at the bar will be extra good today. I'm all for it!

What percentage of illegal immigrants pay taxes? Does it cover the education, health, and law enforcement costs of the entire illegal immigration population?

I seriously doubt it.

Until someone can prove that illegal immigrants aren't anything more than a giant bloodsucking leech on American society, I'm afraid I am going to have to view today's boycott as nothing more than an exercise in mental masturbation and a demonstration of who supports a socialist worker's paradise.

9:00 AM update from the immigrant capital of the United States.

I didn't notice any missing immigrants at all. That said, the people whom I come in contact with in the mornings who are obviously immigrants are also entrepreneurs -- people who run newstands and coffee carts, taxicabs, etc. (though my cabdriver this morning was not obviously an immigrant). Those guys generally won't take a day off for anything. My newstand guy got shot in the thigh one morning and was back by afternoon.

P.S.: Crap! I forgot to drop off at the laundry today. Guess I'm wearing the Gordon Gekko shirt tomorrow.

All immigrants pay some taxes, since they have to buy stuff and pay sales taxes. If they drive, they pay gasoline taxes. If they are living in an apartment, the rent of the apartment includes property taxes (I doubt seriously if many of them own homes.) What they don't pay is income taxes, but this is pretty inconsequential, because for the amount of money they make, they probably wouldn't pay income taxes anyway.

Nobody can prove anything to you. Perhaps they can convince you, but it doesn't sound likely. But I'll give it a shot anyway.

Illegal immigrants keep the cost down in lots of industries, especially construction and agriculture. While they do use some government resources, it is probably a great deal less than legal laborers do, plus, they are not a drain on Social Security since they don't participate.

But if you really want to think about what illegal immigrants provide, ask yourself why the government rarely if ever targets those who hire illegal immigrants? It would seem to me that the easiest way to make sure they don't come and take our jobs away is to heavily penalize those who give them jobs. Yet you don't see this. And why not? I would say it is because everyone seems to accept that businesses use illegal labor for certain tasks in order to keep their price down and profit up. These businesses have lawyers, so it is much harder to go after them. Oh yeah, lobbyists too. Besides, they are US citizens, so it seems wrong to punish them when there are foreigners we can blame.

When I see Congress taking on the construction industry or big agriculture, then I will know they are serious about illegal immigration. As it is, they are just pandering to our national xenophobia.

I cannot blame an impoverished person for wanting a better life. Perhaps it is bad for our country if they seek it here, but if it is, then we should attack the problem at the root, which is those making the illegal offer for a better life, not those accepting it.

.

I cannot blame a thug for wanting a better car

so Im giving him your keys

Then you should be arrested because you enabled him to break the law. In fact, you are the reason he was able to break the law, so you deserve harsher punishment than the thug.
Two points here

1: "sympathy" (one sided though it may be) like yours is EXACTLY what enables these theives to break the law

2: I'm ALL for harsh penalties against employers like hundred dollar a plate restaraunts in scottsdale who hire illegals

Boy, it's a good thing you wait for evidence before making up your mind.

No, it is the availability of jobs and the existence of those who offer them.

How about the two I mentioned, construction and agriculture? Why not put a few of these very rich business owners in prison for using illegal labor? Or better yet, make them live in a Mexican ghetto for a year for each illegal they hire. That would be attacking the root of the problem. If you're fighting crime, do you care more about the mugs or the Godfather?

Partly, but we cant do anything about it because of the political pressure "sympathy" like yours is causing

Yes thats EXACTLY what we should do! But anytime anyone tries, the "sympathizers" and criminal co-conspirators go up in arms crazy, link it up with legal immigration and get BS threads like this going

Look at the Minutemen for a great example, they are targeting the businesses and being called nazis and relics for the effort
