What irritates me about those pontificating about '79 is that, like Russia in '17, there were actually *two* revolutions; a popular revolt and a smaller, more cohesive and focused group decapitating the earlier revolt.

Yes, and in fact the French Revolution also had numerous groups with disparate aims from moderate to extreme, and for some time the extremists were also in the ascendent until it ended in military dictatorship.

What kind of ignorant question is that? They had been working on it for years and were days away from producing enough weapons-grade uranium for 11 bombs according to the IAEA, and months to at most one year from turning that uranium into usable bombs.

Netanyahu has been saying for over a decade that Iran was within months of getting nuclear weapons.

Iran hasn't been willing to actually agree to getting rid of their nuclear programs and letting in objective oversight to ensure their compliance.

Nuclear weapons and funding of terrorist proxies keep being the downfall of negotiations.

Perhaps I was not clear. On February 28, when the US and Israel jointly launched Operation Epic Fury–Roaring Lion, Iran was days away from having nuclear grade uranium and months (or at most a year) from having a deliverable nuclear weapon.

Some inferences are reasonable, some are unreasonable. Thinking that criticising a war of choice that is a strategic disaster for American security equates to wanting Iranian nuclear weapons, is unreasonable and can easily be seen forever the other statements from the posters

Or, rather, claimed by a pack of left-wing imbeciles, none of whom has explained how Iran's drive to obtain a nuclear arsenal would be stopped without a war. These people either aren't capable of facing reality, or they would actually prefer a nuclear armed Iran to us waging a war to prevent it.

Sorry. Got the operations confused. It was June 2025, Operation Midnight Hammer. To repeat: Iran was days from weapons-grade enrichment; months to at most one year from a deliverable bomb.
