"Danny Tommo" was denied bail because a) he was already out on bail and shown himself incapable of avoiding offending and b) gave his address as 'no fixed abode' this time which would also disqualify him from bail, as I understand it; c) the boat being 'illegal' doesn't mean he didn't put someone's life at risk by damaging it.

The fact that the five suspects were released within 24 hours pretty much guarantees, as others have said, that they were not suspected of terror offences.
