UK claims to have foiled 'terrorist' plot against airbase

In its latest update, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing Laurence Taylor revealed that the five men arrested near RAF Fairford on Sunday morning are being released on police bail.

Here are the key points:

The five men are being released following "extensive interviews and inquiries"
The investigation continues and the men are subject to "stringent conditions on their movement and contact with others" and "absolutely remain under investigation"
Taylor said the men had been arrested on suspicion of explosives offences and later on suspicion of preparation of a terrorist act
He said the three vehicles the men had been travelling in have been subject to "extensive examination" with support from military and forensic experts
CTP hopes to reduce their presence at the scene "later today" and "get residents back to their homes"
Taylor added that CTP are keeping an "open mind" as to whether the "geopolitical context" is a factor in their investigation.

He says police are "considering this from every angle", including whether the incident was "committed by proxies or individuals... working on behalf of a foreign state".

RAF base terror suspects released on bail. Danny Tommo remanded, behind bars, yet these men are free to walk.
I am absolutely astonished. It is a disgrace.
A Restore Britain Government will crush our two-tier justice system and legally pursue those responsible.

A REMINDER that Danny Tommo, accused of popping a dinghy designed to bring more illegal invaders to Britain (nobody was hurt) was denied bail and remains in custody

Fascinating that they’ll deny bail to people who post fruity social media posts but grant bail to five men suspected of plotting to attack a US/British military base.

The evil Labour government have their dirty hands all over this!!
You can bet they have pressured for these Terrorists to be released on bail.
We not only have enemies from evil regimes that want to kill us but enemies from within as well

🚨 HOLY CRAP! UK authorities are RELEASING the 5 suspected terrorists who got close to bombing/attacking RAF Fairford base, which is used by American troops
RELEASED ON BAIL.
This is UTTER MADNESS!
Why would they do this?! KEEP THEM BEHIND BARS
Under NO CONDITIONS should they be released. Even President Trump said we knew about this would-be attack before it happened
Now they're going back into society? THE UK IS COOKED unless this soft-on-crime BS stops!

Could it be, since the vans had logos Fuel2U, that the plan was the theft of fuel, to then use in a terrorist attack and the police have evidence of the former but not the latter? Lets speculate!!!!

Lots of things are possible. We really don't have enough public data to narrow it down much.

Fertiliser and Diesel mixed together make Anfo.

You do need a detonator to set it off though.

Lots of people making the point that they must have been in very well paid jobs to afford to rent or buy a property in some of these areas…or could it be that they were in social housing?

Late to the game here but....it always annoys me when attacks or planned attacks on military targets are called terrorism. I first noticed when the USS Cole was attacked. If an attack on a warship is terrorism, what isn't?

Five days ago, the U.K. government was caught busing in hundreds of military-age men and funding an invasion of England

Today five foreign terrorists tried to bomb an air base used by the U.S. military

The U.K. government would have been responsible for an attack on Americans.

OK, speculation time. We can use the BBC story to find the location where the vans were parked and the arrests happened. And we can look that up in Google Maps. If I do this correctly, this link should pull up that location.

So here's my speculation: there doesn't seem to be a lot of candidate locations nearby for stealing fuel from. It's just houses immediately around them, no businesses except a country club. The nearest gas station is about a mile to the north. If they were trying to steal fuel, who the hell were they trying to steal it from? If they were just stealing something, I don't think it was fuel.

The five suspects were reported as
Male, 24, Resident of Borough of Camden
Male, 24, Borough of Westminster
Male, 25, Borough of Westminster
Male, 23, Borough of Westminster
Male, 24, Borough of Willesden
Ah. Right. If they're not brown Muslim terrorists the only other possibility is they're benefits scroungers.

If this story keeps on giving the way it has, at least one of them will have to resign in disgrace as a Reform councillor.

A lot of crime isn't well thought out. Just speculation.

Farms are the main target, most have diesel storage tanks and farm machinery holds a lot of fuel.

On the Google Maps satellite, it looks like there's some farm buildings to the northwest of where they were spotted. But they were arrested to the southeast of that. So not impossible, but still a bit... odd.

But sometimes, criminals be idiots, so who knows.

They would be hitting a number of locations across the area, hence three vans.
