Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

Iran has won, as it has deeply split the GCC and OPEC, and has massively damaged Saudi Arabia's leadership role in the Muslim World.
It has shown that letting the US set up bases, buying its weapons and bribing its politicians will not help a country one bit if Israel needs help.

Iran will be part of any future deal involving the Strait, and it will get its sanctions reduced and funds released.

The World consumes over 100 million barrels of oil every day, so what he's saying is the US has gotten one day's worth of oil through the strait in a month. This would be less than 5% of what normally went through without any effort before the US started this war. Such a wildly successful effort which 95% failed to just get us back where we were.
100M barrels per day, but only 20% of that normally comes through the strait.

So it's 5 days worth :)

They loiter by floating. At which point, you might as well just use a drone boat. Which has the added advantage that it can handle waves.

This is a neat technology with very niche use cases which do not include open oceans. It’s not a game changer.
Ooooh... drone boats with missle noses, now that's the way to go!

Unecessary caveat: I'm not a weapons engineer, nor a boat engineer, or any kind of engineer, and this is totally just for fun imaginationing.

Who is supposed to believe any of this?

Morons.

It seems to be working. I can see lots of cheerleaders of Trump loving every minute of it. Shrinking numbers but still a lot of people.

The force necessary to achieve what? I would prefer the US had a plan, and carried it through.

But they do have a plan, borrowed from our lesser primate relatives.

Fling faeces at everything and screech that you're winning something.

And because of the denser air, it uses up less fuel than a drone flying higher.
This is literally the opposite of how it actually works.
Future navies are so screwed.
Future navies have already developed expanded-capability air defense and point defense systems, specifically for low-flying, high speed targets.

The RIM-116 was conceived in 1976 to counter sea-skimming anti-ship missiles, and went into service in 1992. This was two years before...

... The sea-skimming, Mach 0.8 Kalibr anti-ship missile came out in 1994.

Sea-skimming anti-ship missiles are nothing new. The navies of the future were already developing counters to them in the past.

This drone is low flying and slow, not fast.

It's potentially useful as a loitering scout in coastal waters. It's of zero use as a blue water naval threat.

Trump only referred to one “set of oil” that had to be sneaked past Iranian forces.

What oil is he talking about?
There's an operation going on where som cargo ships are turning off their transponders and sneaking through the straight at night and transferring their oil to other tankers in Omani waters before sneaking back in.

There are two problems:
1 nonbody knows how much oil is being snuck through.
2 now that TACO gas blabbed everybody knows and it'll become a lot less successful very quickly.

Fake!!

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
The terms that Iran leaked out to the Fake News have NOTHING to do with the terms that were agreed to, in writing.
What they said, including their weak and pathetic statement on having a deal, bears no relation to the truth. Very dishonorable people to deal with. With them, there is no such thing as dealing in good faith.
AMAZING! Also, their totally rebuffed Drone attack last night against Indian Ships leaving the Hormuz Strait is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. They better get their act together, and FAST! President DONALD J. TRUMP

I'm seeing a lot of fake information about a potential deal to reopen the Strait and end Iran's nuclear weapons program. First, the Iranians are not receiving any cash, and no funds are being released for simply signing a deal or attending a meeting. The deal is structured to ensure that the US and its allies concerns are prioritized, and that if the Islamic Republic of Iran meets its obligations, then economic benefits will flow to them and to the entire region. This deal has the potential to remake the region and lead to lasting peace.

I've noticed a couple of bizarre things in the reporting over the last few hours. First, people who (rightly) said Donald Trump was a historic president a month ago now criticizing a deal based on unconfirmed media reports. Second, people who say you can't trust a word said by the IRGC who apparently believe anonymously sourced social media posts.

The president is going to get us a good outcome, one way or the other.

How shocking, that people are releasing false reports that you might be close to ending your war and allowing global trade to resume. In future I'll give less credence to such reports if they suggest unexpected competence from the Trump regime.

Thoughts and prayers for this stunning new deal!

Trump certainly is a historic Presidente. Not in a good way.

He is World Historically incompetent. Clearly Obama was far more skilled at negotiation than he is.

SIZEABLE IRANIAN ASSETS IN DUBAI

The UAE-Iranian arrangement is set to unfold against a complex financial backdrop potentially involving Dubai, the UAE's main commercial hub and one of Tehran's most critical economic lifelines.
Dubai's banks have long held substantial Iranian-linked deposits, much of them now immobilized under U.S. sanctions that police the global dollar-clearing system and expose any foreign bank dealing with blacklisted Iranian entities to being cut off from the American financial network.
On April 11, a senior Iranian source said the U.S. had agreed to release Iranian frozen assets held in Qatar and other foreign banks, although a U.S. official swiftly denied the assertion.
The source, who declined to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter, told Reuters that unfreezing the assets was "directly linked to ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz", a key issue in talks aimed at ending the conflict.

reuters reports $10b to iran, $3b already received

Then that only leaves the question of what Ziggurat was talking about in this post:
That's not what he said.

Yes. That's where he's been taking that oil out from. We've been taking it out of the reserve. He didn't say that he's been taking it out of Iran. I have no idea why you think that's what he said.

I'm guessing Ziggurat doesn't even know.

I don't see how you can possibly think Iran can "win". They can drag it out a long time, definitely. But "win"?

Would you rather the US used the force necessary?

It's very irritating to me. If the US is aggressive and uses the necessary force, we get criticized for it because people die. If the US holds back and continues to negotiate instead of just plain killing a bunch of people, we get criticized for being weak. There's no way out when the entire objective is to just ◊◊◊◊ on the US.

Yeah, it's a real bitch when you start a war for no reason and then everyone gets mad at you.
