Tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no rich no more."suddenly I'm the Bad Guy, just because I hoard food while other people are starving?"

Contact would have been made eventually, and unless you think it could have been delayed another 400 years before happening, smallpox and other old world epidemics would have ravaged the Americas. It was inevitable, a tragic result of geography and biology. The only way to stop it would have been modern medicine, which wasn't available. Do you really think Europeans would have just never explored the Americas? Why are you evaluating these events with perfect hindsight instead of with the limited knowledge available at the time?
sounds good.
It won't be. Societies which drive out the rich don't tend to fare very well.sounds good.
I'm not arguing for anything of the sort.I notice that you are arguing for letting people starve to protect profiteers.
We just need to do communism right this time."everyone gets one helping before anyone gets seconds" should not be a controversial position in a civilized humane society.
I wasn't the only one who thought you were serious. And given what else you've said, it was entirely plausible. It was more of a joke when I said it.
proving once again that you don't know much about poverty in the US or communism. It won't be. Societies which drive out the rich don't tend to fare very well.

When is the last time you heard of anyone in the US starving to death? Obesity is a far greater problem for the poor in this country than malnutrition.
We just need to do communism right this time.
I didn’t specify communism. But it’s quite telling that that’s where you went. And as for poverty in the US, prove me wrong.proving once again that you don't know much about poverty in the US or communism.
No, it isn't. And it sure as ◊◊◊◊ isn't starvation.Obesity *is* malnutrition.
Bwahahaha!Food Stamp restrictions
It is when you consider the chemical conversion sequence in making fat, what feeds into it, what doesn't, and what can't.No, it isn't. And it sure as ◊◊◊◊ isn't starvation.
There's all sorts of things to be said about bad nutrition (including the government's role in promoting it), but it is not primarily a problem of a lack of food, but bad choices. And it's more than a little ironic that TGZ is complaining about SNAP benefits being restricted so that you CAN'T buy sugary soda with it anymore, while you're complaining that sugary sodas are so bad they're tantamount to starvation. It is when you consider the chemical conversion sequence in making fat, what feeds into it, what doesn't, and what can't.
Yes, old people with dementia frequently don't eat properly, and that leads to malnutrition which then leads to further mental decline in a vicious death spiral. It almost happened to my aunt, but for the intervention of my mother. It's a serious public health issue, but it's not really an issue with food not being available. And it sure as ◊◊◊◊ isn't because you can't buy coke with SNAP anymore.
Mercantilists and second sons of minor feudal lords is more accurate. I have noted this as a tendency among some of communisms defenders, basically calling every political an economic system prior to 1848, capitalism. Which to be fair, is mirrored on the right by calling all the bad things communism.claim was that Communism is the reason for mass killing.
the conquistadors were pure capitalists in that they all had huge debts to banks at home and had to exploit the new continent and the people, lest they themselves ended up in a debtor's prison, and no constraints from a State on how they got to exploit the natives.
Well, he's definitely not a conservative. Thing about populist demagogues, left or right the only thing that differs much is who they scape goat.Just like Trump! So he's a communist, is he?
Sure, some grievances are real, not a great organizing principle for society though. Its more about how the those ideologies seek to right those real wrongs and that they don't always distinguish much between real wrongs and imagined. Some grievances are real, and I cannot see why ideologies based on righting real wrongs are necessarily bad. Quite the opposite.
What's the difference between communism and fascism if everything is under control of the state? Conquistadors, is all in the name, they were conquerors who became the state after the conquests whose primary responsibility was to funnel material wealth to the State in Spain. You can call that capitalism I guess but makes the term fairly useless. What's the difference between mercantilism and capitalism when there is no State Control to prevent excesses?
Corporate Towns are proof that on its own, Capitalism leads to brutal exploitation of workers.
