Not really, they just attack the protestors and shoot tear gas and rubber bullets at peaceful protestors. Then there is the favorite cop tactic of blocking all exits then ordering the crowd to disperse and as they obviously can't they are then all violating police orders and can be arrested.

Depending on whether they're pre or post 1995 (after 1995 civil and public servants were taken off superannuation and put on the state pension with a top up job pension. Anybody hired before then is still superannuated), a Garda Sergeant earns either €71,122 (post) or €73,460 (pre) at the top of the scale. With allowances and a lot of overtime, that could rise to €150,000, significantly below yer man.

In fact you'd have to go all the way to Commissioner to find a salay comparable to the sergeant's.
