Trump's promised ICE raids have begun

How far back does that go, how about if one had a Scotish mother and a father born to German parents?

There was a short story I recently read, in an anthology of alternate history (future) stories in which the current political climate continues to get worse, in which expert genealogists have become highly sought-after political consultants because birthright citizenship was revoked retroactively. Politicians hire them to research the family trees of their opponents, searching for any ancestors who weren't legal immigrants, going back to the founding of the country, in order to make them ineligible for election.

I remember that, it’s title is “The One Big Beautiful Bill” isn’t it?

A children’s story book as I recall.

The current president is grandsom, son and current husband to illegal immigrants.
Quite true. The "children of citizens" rule is really silly because it eliminates so many people who expect to be thought of as citizens. At what point do we start counting? The people who want to do away with birthright citizenship think that the seminal court case (U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark) establishes that domicile is the deciding factor. But it expressly doesn't do that, and in fact would also wreck claims to obvious citizenship.

They want to simplify citizenship to:
1. Only white people are citizens.
2. But only if they speak American-English.
3. Citizenship is a privilege and can be revoked for any reason The Regime wants.
Ethnic cleansing is the obvious goal. That's why the argument in Trump v. (various states) is so laughably irrational. It's trying to argue in roundabout fashion that only European descendants should be considered confirmed citizens while trying to use some formulation of jurisdiction as the proxy fig leaf. The leaf doesn't cover all the junk, so the advocates are tying themselves in knots trying to make it work.
