Yes, just saw it on CNN
It crashed into the waters of the persian gulf after Iran's air defense system intercepted and targeted near the Strait of Hormuz.

They are obsolete sitting ducks, built for one purpose in a different war that never happened.

I'm coming across more and more alarmist comments about the economic impact of this reckless, irresponsible war - if this situation is prolonged there really might be a nasty global depression on its way. Rather disheartening tbh, this era is totally bizarre with its bad news and bad changes, bad moons rising...

I'm sure the MAGA crew will find some reason why it's good news and that their heroes, Trump & Hegseth, knew it was going to happen.

It's all part of the weave.

I had wondered if the A 10 might be quite effective at drone hunting, like drones they can fly low and slow, they should be kept out of Iranian airspace and drone hunt over the sea, iraq etc.

Yup that was my thinking

Britain is not doing that.

By the way, given you were in the US Army, what do you make of Hegseth's summary firing of Randy George?
IT is an outrage. George was fired because he was telling Trump and Hegseth things about a ground war with Iran they did not want to hear.
I think the decision has already been made about a ground war, and they are just waiting for the right time to begin it. Then the body bags will realy start to come home.

Your claim, your burden of proof. But in any event it really doesn't matter. The fact that you are trying to pin Cuba's problems on an aid flotilla just because it may be less than perfect while simultaneously ignoring the role of your own government in the suffering of millions on the island speaks volumes.

You may not be a trumper but you sure do go out of your way to sound exactly like one with your cruel indifference to the suffering of people who aren't ideologically aligned with you.
I am oppoased to the blockage of Cuba, but a lot of it's economic problems are due to a government which cotinues along the Marxist path which has always failed.
They shot down an A-10 today too. I must be getting old, but in my day when they said the air defenses were knocked out, it meant the air defenses were knocked out.
As much as I despise Trump and think his Iran adventure was a horrid mistake, there is no such thing as 100% knocking out air defense. Some will always survive. Even if you have overall control of the air, casualties will happen.
A lot of people here are very ignorant about the realaties of war.
And if there is a backlash,Trump deserves it for selling the myth of invincibility. No such animal has ever existed.

The US also paid tribute to the barbary pirates.
The US created a navy with the express intent of destroying the barbary pirates because paying a ransom to not get robbed and killed is a horrible policy.

And we did destroy the barbary pirates.
Before the American revolution they'd had the protection of being British so were left alone.
Sure. Before the revolution the colonies benefited from the ransom paid to pirates so they wouldn't rob and kill people. Still doesn't make it good policy.

Then they came back again.
They weren't finally destroyed until the French took Algeria and Morocco.

The reason the Colonies benefited is that the pirates left British ships alone.

Thanks for your response. Sadly, I think you are right. Trump and Hegseth don't want sober, knowledgable people in charge of these things. They want cheerleaders.

I think the Iran was a horrible, horriblem mistake, and I despise Trump and Hesgarth as much as anybody, but I donlt think the Ayatalloahs are the good guys here. They got plenty of blood on their hands. Trump and the Ayattolahs, deserve each other.

It's Trump and his sycophants who are ignorant. People here are just quoting what he claimed.
