The sinking of MS Estonia: Case Reopened Part VII

What conspiracy would this be? It is a current affairs news item that the sinking of the Estonia is being reinvestigated. This is a factual statement. Let me know if you have any objections and what they are.
There's the fringe reset expected from you. There are pages and pages of your various conspiracy theories, many of which are mutually exclusive.

I think she may well have known it was satire, but I think that she thought we wouldn't know and take it seriously.

I mean that's the only other possible explanation as to why she posted it here.

Oh and good to see you posting here again Vixen! Want to answer my question and provide the example of the claim you made about me from a few months ago yet? Remember? You accused me of something and I invited you to back it up or retract your baseless accusation?
A key element of satire is that it connects to current affairs news. The issue about what was being transported on the Estonia is a serious one. Jutta Rabe might be a 'conspiracy theorist' in your eyes but she is a serious German journalist not given to frivolity.

As I recall about your claim of a 'baseless accusation', you mistook two Kurdish guys with long Arabic-looking names as having been deported by Sweden, in the context of the disappeared Estonian crew, including Capt. Piht. I pointed out no, it wasn't a deportation it was a rendition. As the vast majority of people have no idea what a renditioning is, I commented that you'd jumped to conclusions based on these two guys' names. You then took great umbrage and claimed I was calling you a racist, when I was doing nothing of the sort. I was quite aware your reaction would be the expected one for a typical Brit. I was right, you didn't realise the guys had been renditioned (forcibly 'disappeared') because you insisted it was a mundane deportation. Ever since then you seem to have held an enormous grudge. Please let it lie. Or explain what the beef is.

So I am sceptical the sinking was caused 'by a strong wave'. And your objection to my scepticism is...? Bearing in mind the captains of Europa and Isabella were sceptical too and expressed it publicly.

As I recall, you insisted Sweden had "disappeared" the two guys because that's just the kind of thing Sweden does, and you said so to bolster one of your crazy fairytale conspiracy theories: that Sweden had magically rescued but then "disappeared" the officers of the Estonia.

Like I said, fringe reset for you. Since you have proven to be scientifically inept, your scepticism is base only on "feelsies." Because of your lack of scientific understanding, why should we give a ◊◊◊◊ if you're sceptical about the sinking. Especially when you have trotted out so many dumb conspiracy theories.

Most of us, of course, cannot read Finnish. My recollection is you only credited that site after someone declared your latest suggestion perhaps the most ridiculous yet. And you didn't expressly say you realised it was satire, which kept the pot boiling for a few more pointless pages.

I mean, I might misremember, but we have Search now so if it was worth a moment's effort...
Here's Vixen introducing Hikipedia as a source for one of her claims: https://internationalskeptics.com/f...e-opened-part-ii.354207/page-35#post-13610746

Here's Vixen telling someone to check Hikipedia's sources:

Here's Vixen explaining that she was using Hikipedia as a factual source: https://internationalskeptics.com/f...e-opened-part-ii.354207/page-48#post-13615172

In that last one she concedes that it’s a satire site, but there doesn't seem to be any indication of it before then.

Well, the LONDON EVENING STANDARD and the HELSINGIN SANOMAT were all reporting Piht was alive and kicking. Interpol issued an arrest warrant. He was last 'seen' in Helsinki.

The article is accompanied by a cartoon.

We kicked that stupid nonsense around for page after page already.

Do you want to tell us again how the Swedes magically found him and secretly plucked him out of the sea without anyone noticing, then sent him to a Finnish hospital, then kidnapped him again and disappeared him?

A person's memory can be......interesting.

The Junkshop Dictionary of Modern Dishonest Argumentation said:
interesting
/ˈɪntrɪstɪŋ,ˈɪnt(ə)rɛstɪŋ/

adjective

1) Entirely disconnected from reality
2) Chiropteran guano (colloquial: ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊); insane, nonsensical, wibbley
3) A transparently obvious attempt to re-write history, that is bound to fail because the search function works now, also we have memories.

Why do newspapers publish errata?

Indeed. In fact, reporting is often inaccurate in the "fog of war" wrt disasters, seismic societal happenings, and yes, wars. Almost all of the early (first few days) reporting on the Estonia disaster was based on word-of-mouth accounts and other third-party accounts. Which are very often inaccurate. But, given that the media effectively have no option but to report ASAP on a disaster such as this, they therefore have no choice but to include these often-inaccurate accounts. Then, as you point out, they issue errata if/when material "facts" turn out to be wrong.
