Why would he give the kid a medal for getting car jacked?

It's not as if he got himself mugged deliberately to give Trump the pretext for putting troops on the streets of the capital. Is it?

I have seen a lot of people pointing out that he seemed to have taken his shirt off and smeared blood all over himself for the photo.

If the inflation numbers are too high, time to fire the statistician(s) responsible for producing them, hold off on producing any numbers for a few months and then issue numbers which align with administration expectations.
 
When those 800 troops in DC get bored, they could be employed to look for Deep State. How will they know they found it? It will have government attached to it on all sides. But that's everything in DC.
 
About a dozen Trump-deployed National Guard troops appeared near the Washington Monument yesterday evening. They took photos of themselves with visitors, and they left after roughly two hours.
To justify his takeover of Washington, Trump cited several false and misleading claims about homicides and youth crime.

I haven't seen any of the coverage of the actual crime. Did they mention whether he spent several hours leading up to the crime cruising slowly around in dodgy areas with his windows open and various valuables scattered on the seats around him?

That's an incredibly stupid and short-sighted "motto" for the people in one branch of our federal system- even if you could trust him, you're setting a precedent for any future administration to demand the same trust with no check or balance other than that faith. And I don't trust him- Trump is a complete ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ moron who seems to truly believe that he should be allowed to set US policy based, as often as not, on his own personal grumps and gripes. It's one thing for a president to have, and to be elected on the basis of, a political ideology- it's another thing entirely when that president's only ideology is himself.

Okay I actually bothered to look up the story.

Elon Musk's version of the tale was that a woman in her car was being attacked by a gang of about a dozen young men, then a heroic DOGE staffer spotted what was going on and rushed to her defence, getting himself beaten up but saving her. Presumably that's the medal-worthy version.


Other versions are available. The police report says Edward Coristine ('big balls') was with the woman, standing by their car, downtown around 3am, when a group of juveniles approached, demanded their car, attacked Coristine and stole his iPhone. A police patrol arrived and the attackers fled but two were arrested (one male, one female, both 15).

It seems the attacked pair can't have been there alone as the photo of the bloodied Corisitne was taken by his friend Marko Elez (also ex-DOGE, but who had to quit over a racist social media post).


It's not quite clear yet whether Trump's plan is to have the National Guard stand weekend sentry duty on downtown street corners at 3am to prevent muggings as people roll out of clubs. My guess is that it is not.

Right now, some drooling administration sycophant is designing a $500 bill with Trump's stupid tough guy mug (shot) plastered on it; it will be gold instead of green and it will declare "In Trump We Trust.

You know someone is doing this.

Oh, don't worry about that. Those rounded up won't be put in prison. They'll be given jobs! Unpaid, of course. Picking crops, stuff like that. We won't call it slavery, so it'll be okay.
