Trump's Second Term

Thank you, I did not know all that.
Please do not take this personally. It is in general true that Western publics are not generally good at following along with events over long time scales, even within their own lifetimes. Meaning, Planigale's write-up should be, but is not, basic common knowledge, and should inform debate on the news at each step. Thank media deregulation, oligarch ownership of the news, and a wicked AIPAC hell-bent on dominating the Middle East by placing an Israeli boot on every undead neck all while gaslighting to the max.

Deeper still are the subterfuge and lies used to promote the apartheid, racist state of Israel as some holy, honorable victim seeking just refuge from a cruel world, a narrative that was already firmly in place and taught us as absolute truth since before most of us were even born, making it truly insidious.

Though I was too busy to handle reactions to my earlier post outlining the USA as today's gravest threat, I would like to use this bombing event as my Q.E.D. in answer to any objections thereto.

I used to play the boardgame Diplomacy A Lot with my friends, and the rule was that no matter your beef with anyone, you always gang up on the single most powerful player until he's no longer the most powerful.
I used to play the boardgame Diplomacy with my friends too, and the rule was that no matter your beef with anyone, they would not be your friends for very long. It was the ultimate friendship-breaker.

Now reports that the attacks were on iranian nuclear power Plants, but the underground facalities have not been damaged.
Anybody who thinks Iran is not going to strike back, probably with it's terrorist allies, is living in la la land.
From CNN: "US President Donald Trump claimed the sites were “totally obliterated” and warned the US could go after additional targets if Iran does not make peace."

What additional targets if the sites were "totally obliterated"?!

Listen: I don't think Iran knows what Iran is going to do until it does it.

Trump administration removing 988 hotline service tailored to LGBTQ+ youth in July

AP News said:
The 988 National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline will stop providing tailored support options to LGBTQ+ youth and young adults on July 17, according to a statement on a federal agency’s website.

The decision preempts the Trump administration’s 2026 budget proposal to cut funding for 988’s LGBTQ+ youth and young adult services, and is raising alarm bells among LGBTQ+ advocates.

The Trevor Project said it received official notice Tuesday that the program was ending. The nonprofit is one of seven centers that provides 988 crisis support services for LGBTQ+ people — and serves nearly half of the people who contact the lifeline.

“Suicide prevention is about people, not politics,” Trevor Project CEO Jaymes Black said in a statement Wednesday. “The administration’s decision to remove a bipartisan, evidence-based service that has effectively supported a high-risk group of young people through their darkest moments is incomprehensible.”

New insight into Texas family detention reveals adults fighting kids for clean water

AP News said:
McALLEN, Texas (AP) — Adults fighting kids for clean water, despondent toddlers and a child with swollen feet denied a medical exam — these first-hand accounts from immigrant families at detention centers included in a motion filed by advocates Friday night are offering a glimpse of conditions at Texas facilities.

Families shared their testimonies with immigrant advocates filing a lawsuit to prevent the Trump administration from terminating the Flores Settlement Agreement, a ‘90s-era policy that requires immigrant children detained in federal custody be held in safe and sanitary conditions.

One mother was told she would have to use tap water for formula for her 9-month-old, who had diarrhea for three days after, and a 16-year-old girl described people scrambling over each other for water.

“We don’t get enough water. They put out a little case of water, and everyone has to run for it,” said the declaration from the girl held with her mother and two younger siblings at the Karnes County Immigration Processing Center. “An adult here even pushed my little sister out of the way to get to the water first.”

Expect the Gulf to be blocked and gas prices going sky high now. The US will have to carry on what they started in an open ended war. No lessons learned at all from Iraq. I only hope the UK doesn't emulate Trump's mistake.
Or Iran could agree to stop its move to nuclear weapons.

Very unlikely, now they are under attack. Iran will be a spiteful adversary, with terrorism capability to act in a variety different ways to damage western interests. The whole concept of MAD, upon which the present nuclear powers base their policy, encourages every country in the world to aspire to nukes for exactly the same reason. Proliferation was always going to happen because of this.

Iran has never been a seriously adversity to anyone. Its access to oil has been their only saving grace.

Depends what you mean by serious. Its pretty serious if you or a loved one is killed following an act of terrorism. Iran is not going to spell out its "everlasting consequences" is it? We are going to have to wait until something happens to find out.

Sounds like wishful thinking.

With regard to the the US bombing of nuclear enrichment facilities in Iran, in my opinion it's too early to say what the long term effects will be.

I certainly do not like the imperial mentality of going into another sovereign country, one with which the USA is not at war, and destroying a facility on flimsy grounds. Just because Iran has the uranium to make nuclear weapons doesn't mean it has plans to do so. Canada might have enough uranium, too, but probably not at 60% purity.

I also doubt he did much damage to Iran's current stockpile.

That said, setting back Iran's ability to purify uranium is probably a good thing. Iran certainly isn't a peaceable neighbour.
Iran's a lot more peacable than most of its neighbours.

Does this mean they'll only offer Trump four of the five Nobel Peace Prizes he was going to get?
Pakistan is nominating Trump for a Nobel peace prize for his unprovoked attack on Iran. A few Havard professors might follow this example.
