long with sister ship the Atlantic Causeway it had been Because of the short time available, the decision that the ship was not "a high-value unit", and a controversy over whether arming auxiliaries was legal, Atlantic Conveyor was not fitted with either an active or a passive defence system.

Conveyor carried a cargo of six Wessex helicopters from 848 Naval Air Squadron and five RAF Chinook HC.1s from No. 18 Squadron RAF. At Ascension, she picked up eight Fleet Air Arm Sea Harriers (809 Squadron) and six RAF Harrier GR.3 jump jets plus air munitions and aviation fuel supplies.

Yes KGV of course

It was already on it's way down before the torpedoes.
Also ignore the 'Bismarck was a supership' nutters that say it was scuttled by the crew because it was unsinkable.
It was a dated, inefficient and mediocre design, as you would expect from a country that had been banned from designing and building capital ships for decades.

1940 Wormhoudt Massacre

99 British soldiers mainly from the 2nd Battalion, The Norfolk Regiment were surrounded, out of ammunition and out of options. After a show of hands conducted by the Commanding Officer they surrendered to a German SS unit.
They were searched and beaten, then marched across a road and lined up against a barn wall where they were machine gunned. Two survived to tell the tale and one of the perpetrators had his neck stretched at the end of the war, found guilty of war crimes.

1982: 2 Para engages Argentine defenders at Darwin and Goose Green. BBC World Service announced the "surprise attack" towards Goose Green thus blowing the whole thing but it carries on anyway.
In Goose Green, Argentine commander Lieutenant Colonel Italo Piaggi hears the BBC broadcast too, and goes to bed chuckling, "Do they really think I'm that stupid?"

British troops re-captured Port Darwin and Goose Green, taking almost 1500 Argentine prisoners.
