The Truth about RFK Jr

Dr. Oz is a literal brain surgeon. Unfortunately he knows absolutely nothing about anything else.
My late mother-in-law once needed brain surgery after a fall. When we talked to the surgeon afterward we asked him a more general question and he said "Whoa, I'm just a brain mechanic. You need to talk to a doctor about that."
Oz is not that bright nor as aware.
I'm reminded of my uncle, a general surgeon, who although he was multiple times smarter than Dr. Oz, I'm sure, always remarked, "just remember, I'm just a fancy kind of plumber."

Ben Carson is the brain surgeon, Oz is a cardiothoracic surgeon.

It is so frustrating, the whole "if you are healthy" - health is complicated; some may be born with superhero genes, of course, and may manage to stay healthy no matter what, but for most of us, health is based on many factors - environment, access to good food. education, good and preventive health care (such as *gasp* vaccines) - and even then, you have to be lucky as well, and not bump into any autoimmune diseases for instance. The current person of orange colour in chief and the idiot son of jfk, and his henchmen, seem to be happy to deprive those in greatest need of most or all of the above, and instead let them rely on vague concepts of organic (ie difficult to get and expensive) unprocessed food, and also very costly supplements. Plus possibly dewormers for animals.

Looking at my American friends and relatives (most of whom have good healthcare coverage), they seem to have a much more active relationship with their doctor and seem to be on all kinds of medication.

A large part of this is that these days it seems difficult to see a GP or specialist here in the UK and that British doctors seem less inclined to prescribe. Another part IMO are the ads on US television which encourage people to go to their doctor and get a prescription. They seem to be able to persuade their doctor to prescribe antibiotics for viruses.

The upshot is that they seem to be on a lot of long and short term medication compared to my friends here in the UK.

I think both countries could take a much more proactive approach to health management. A thorough annual health check, efforts to improve lifestyle choices, better care in the community for physical and mental health and so on could reduce critical care expenses but that doesn't seem to be on the cards.

Doctor Oz will only make the situation far worse.

The problem with providing treatment to unhealthy people is that it costs a lot more than providing healthcare to healthy people, so it follows that you can treat more healthy people for the same money, so it's a much more efficient approach to healthcare.

If you've ever seen an orthopaedic surgeon's tool kit the resemblance to the tools of a carpenter is remarkable, just in higher quality steel.

Speaking as one who had his bone spurs chiselled and filed off...

I see the trump admin has done a quiet swap of the White House info page on Covid-19. Where it used to list practical info about tests, vaccinations, etc. it has now become an outlet for trump's obsession with the "lab leak" theory.
