Trump's US Threat to Greenland (which belongs to Denmark)

So when Trump says military action in order to get control of Greenland is not off the table, you think he's joking?
How should I know? He is against American boots on the ground in Ukraine. Did he express that or didn't he? Now, if Greenland were to become a part of the US how do you think that wuld affect Greenlanders? Go ahead, take a guess.

Would you support the use of military force to take control of Greenland?

Why are you asking me such a question?
Do you have an answer? Do you have any opinion whatsoever on the matter?

This weekend Trump refused to rule out the use of military force to get control of Greenland... I would like to know your thoughts on that.

On X, MAGA morons continue to post the fotos from Nuuk of Don Jr. and Greenlanders wearing the MAGA caps he brought along for this purpose.
Meanwhile, in Nuuk, Greenland:

Med MAGA-hatten på kaldte han Trumps søn en helt - nu er tonen anderledes: 'Dum idiot' (DR.dk, Mar 26, 2025)
Den karakteristiske røde kasket sad på hovedet af Julius Sandgren.
"Make America Great Again" stod der med store hvide bogstaver.
Vi vil helst have danskere.
Men var det ikke dig, der kaldte Donald Trump Jr. En helt?
- Vi tog fejl. Det er på grund af pengene. Han vil overtage Grønland. Det gør man ikke.
Så du fortryder, at du tog den røde hat på?
- Ja. Jeg fortryder det. De behandler ikke mennesker ordentligt. Det er kun danskere, der gør det. Med medicin, det sociale, forhold for pensionister. Det er danskere, der har startet det.
Wearing the MAGA hat, he called Trump's son a hero - now the tone is different: 'Stupid idiot' (DR.dk, Mar 26, 2025)
The characteristic red cap was on Julius Sandgren's head.
"Make America Great Again," it said, in big white letters. And Julius Sandgren was very pleased.
That was in early January, and he had just had dinner with Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr.
(...)
But today he's singing a different tune. A completely different tune, in fact.
He has sold the cap and says no thanks to Trump.
- We are ◊◊◊◊◊◊. Goodbye to the Americans. We would rather have Danes.
But didn't you call Donald Trump Jr. A hero?
- We were wrong. It's because of the money. He wants to take over Greenland. You don't do that.
So you regret wearing on the red hat?
- Yes. I regret it. They don't treat people properly. Danes are the only ones who do. With medicine, welfare, conditions for pensioners. The Danes are the ones who introduced it.

I think there's a lesson or two in there for members of the MAGA cult in the USA.
This poor guy wasn't in the cult long enough for it to wreck his brain.

Would you support the use of military force to take control of Greenland?
Why are you asking me such a question?

Do you have an answer?
Yes, I do.
Do you have any opinion whatsoever on the matter?
I absolutey do have an opinion on the matter.
This weekend Trump refused to rule out the use of military force to get control of Greenland..
That's what has been reported, yes. Whether or not it was in context or not I have no idea.
I would like to know your thoughts on that.
Are my thoughts important to anyone other than to myself? I'll make you an honest agreement. If you tell me what you believe (or suspect) my thoughts on the matter are then I'll tell you if you are right or wrong. Man to man. OK?

Yes, I do.

I think, I hope, you believe the use of force to get control of Greenland would be totally inappropriate and illegal.

Yes, I do.

I'll take a guess... Oops, my interest died along the way. A moment's silence. :eusa_shhh:

Here's an analysis of the global effects Trump (and Vance) is having with his stated attitude toward Denmark and Greenland.

Interesting, but the author makes the mistake of taking the words of Trump and Vance at face value:
"Thanks to Trump’s administration, the US could soon have to fight wars to get things that, just a few weeks ago, were there for the asking."

But what was there for the asking a few weeks ago is still there for the asking - both Greenland and Denmark keep repeating that it is. Mineral extraction, more U.S. military bases, observation posts. Whatever the USA wanted, it could have and can still have. Nothing's changed in that respect.* The only thing that's changed is that what was there for the asking a few weeks ago is no longer enough for Trump and Vance. They want more now than they wanted back then.

They claim that they need Greenland for national and international security, but that's not the point. They want to annex Greenland in order to be able to control the Arctic region. Greenland isn't threatened in the region by anybody other than Trump, and who is supposed to threaten the USA in the region? Putin is Trump's BFF, and Putin wants Trump to have Greenland. (And probably Canada, too.) China is on the other side of the Earth and doesn't threaten anything other than, hypothetically, the USA's access to minerals in Greenland - and the USA could get those by buying the right to extract those minerals if that was what they wanted.
And it's not a security issue. It's a question of being able to control the waterways, e.g. of being able to prevent China and Europe to use them, of being able to extort them much the same way that he is currently extorting universities, media companies and, most recently, law firms: Pay me, or else ... Think of the detour that the ships of other countries will have to take south of South America if Trump's USA can prevent them from using the Panama Canal and (potentially) the Arctic waters.

Think of the prices he'll be able to charge when he controls both the Panama Canal and the Arctic region, the latter with Putin as his partner in crime! Putin may even have been the one who came up with the idea in the first place.
It is not a question of being able to secure the use of it for American ships. They can do that already. Nobody prevents American ships from using the Panama Canal. What he wants is the power to be able to prevent others from using it. Much the same way that he is now able to use his power to extort American companies and institutions.

* Unfortunately! I wish Denmark and Greenland would stop being as subservient as they are. Kick the Americans out of both Greenland and Denmark already! It is as if the politicians in the Danish Realm just can't let go of the idea that the USA is still an ally, no matter how obvious Trump and Vance tell them that it's no longer the case.

It's not surprising that Cubans loves this photo! (So do I.)

Danish defense minister says Trump has gone too far (Radio Rebelde, Mar 28, 2025)
U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated promises to annex Greenland are not appropriate for a close ally and overall are “escalating tensions,” Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has said.
“I think we’ll go as far as we have to go. We need Greenland, and the world needs us to have Greenland, including Denmark,” Trump told reporters on Wednesday. “We have to have the land because it’s not possible to properly defend a large section of this Earth – not just the US – without it. So we have to have it, and I think we will have it,” he stated.
Speaking to Danish state broadcaster DR on Thursday, Poulsen condemned Trump’s recent remarks as escalatory and disrespectful. Trump’s rhetoric was becoming increasingly aggressive and amounted to a “hidden threat” against Denmark and its semi-autonomous territory.

Yes, Troels! Now you know what it feels like to be a small nation that is being threatened by the superpower USA!
It's not a nice feeling, is it?!

This sums it up in a nutshell. Trump doesn't have the brain power to have thought of it himself. Putin put the idea there - perhaps that time in Helsinki 2018, when Trump was completely alone with him without an aide or any chaperone, as is normal official protocol.

Kyle Kulinski makes a pretty good summary of what has happened so far. Notice the date: It's not an April 1st prank.
Trump DEAD SERIOUS About Invading Greenland (Secular Talk on YouTube, Mar 31, 2025 - 16:52 min.)
Kulinski mentions Peter Thiel, but I don't think his tech-bro dystopian idea has much to do with it.

ETA: For those of you who haven't heard Jesse Watter's take on this: 8:20-->

The beginning of the video is about Democratic strategy in the current situation, not about Greenland. They don't mention Greenland (and Panama) until 4:00-->.
'It's just insane': Sen. Coons reacts to Trump's remark about Greenland and military force (CNN on YouTube, Mar 31, 2025 - 8:29 min.)
The prime minister of Greenland pushed back Sunday against assertions by President Donald Trump that America will take control of the island territory. Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) says the move would threaten the interests of NATO countries and would have real world consequences.

That must be why I never got what I asked for at Christmas. No idea he was in the Greenland postal district.
:xmas0664 This one's for you!
FINDING SANTA'S POSTBOX AND DOG SLEDDING IN GREENLAND! (Ilulissat) (Sorelle Amore on YouTube, Dec 18, 2016 - 16:43 min.)
Today was one of my favourite days in Greenland. Although I'll admit...it's practically impossible for me to say one day was better than another because they're all so unique and special.
But the crew went dog sledding today. Wow. What an experience. I've never experienced anything like this.
And how much these animals LOVE to do this. As soon as they rested a second after a hill climb, they just got up and started pacing back and forth ready to do it all over again. And of course...no Greenland trip would be complete without finding Santa's sled and his post box. I feel like life is practically complete!
As the trip is nearing the end, I grow more and more grateful to the people that made this trip possible.
Thank you Idrissia for your insane organization and Rebecca for being there with us always.
Have your own adventures in Greenland. Check out www.greenland.com
Enjoy my Greenland Vlog 6. Many more to come.

So the reason you made this post is ....... why exactly? I think my opinion means much, much more to you than you are willing to admit.
Doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah!
