The newly elected head of government of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, is now responding to US President Donald Trump's latest statements that the US "will get Greenland".
- Let me be clear: The USD will not get Greenland. We do not belong to others. We determine our own future, says Jens-Frederik Nielsen on Facebook.
He adds that Greenland should not react with fear, but with calm and dignity.
- It is by way of these values that we must clearly, distinctly and calmly show the US president that Greenland is ours. That was the case yesterday. That is the case today. And that is the case in the future.

The president on Saturday also said he has “absolutely” had real conversations about annexing Greenland, which is currently a semiautonomous Danish territory.
“We’ll get Greenland. Yeah, 100%,” Trump said.
He added that there’s a “good possibility that we could do it without military force” but that “I don’t take anything off the table.”
