Who should run for the Dems?

Apparently Buttigieg declared he is not running for his Senate seat again, apparently with an eye to running for President. Good luck with that. I can already hear Repugnican Maga morons (or Fox News) saying "Can you imagine him showing up at a State Dinner in a foreign country with his husband, The First Gentleman????" as if that should be the only thing to base a vote on.

Did I miss something, has he ever run for senate? But yeah, pretty clear he's thinking about a prez run. Thought he was living in Indiana, but may have changed residence if he was thinking for a Michigan senate seat. And nobody likes carpetbaggers and the homophobic jokes that would come along with it.

Given the party's choices over the past 10 years or so, I'd say it'd have to be a Kardashian if they're going the fame route. And the press will yammer on about how she's the most likely to win... and despite the fact that she has less appeal to most than some clearly better candidate, enough will believe the press and badly conducted polls that it will propel her to a primary victory, but no further.

Gavin Newsom and Steve Bannon find surprising agreement on Elon Musk (CNN, Mar 12, 2025)

Wasn't it bad enough that Kamala Harris campaigned with Liz Cheney? It was what made left-wing Democrats stay home - without attracting any Republican voters since they've all gone MAGA anyway.
I'm sure that right-wing Democrats like Michael Steele and Dem advisor James Carville would love to see Gavin Newsom campaign with Steve Bannon as his running mate - they are already ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ their pants because over Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's successful rallies - and Steele was recently terribly upset because their theme is fight the oligarchy, a much-too-complicated word for ordinary people to understand, he claims!
MSNBC cohosts get into heated argument over Bernie Sanders and AOC's 'tone-deaf' tour (Daily Mail/MSN.com, Mar 22, 2025)

Carville would no doubt prefer to have Hillary Clinton run - and lose - again rather than give the anti-oligarchy and anti-fascists a chance.

Trump ain't gonna like this!
And the DNC is spending more time scheming against this than planning what to do about MAGA's fascist take-over.

Over 30,000 turn out for Bernie Sanders, AOC rally in Denver amid push for progressive change (CBS News, Mar 22, 2025)
34,000 People. Biggest Political Rally in Denver Since 2008. (Bernie Sanders on YouTube, Mar 23, 2025 - 2:03 min.)

The crowd size of Trump's Denver (Aurora) rally in October ¨24 was estimated to have been 7,000:
Donald Trump's Colorado Crowd Size Compared to Kamala Harris' Arizona Rally (Newsweek, Oct 11, 2024)
The Trump campaign said that free tickets for the event in the Denver suburb were sold out, according to The Denver Post, although it was unclear how many tickets were available. Organizers of the Phoenix-area event said that around 7,000 Harris supporters attended, according to The Arizona Republic.
Images shared to social media of each rally showed what appeared to be similar crowd sizes.
(Can you call it "sold (!) out" when you hand out free tickets to an event?)

Fighting Oligarchy with Bernie and @AOC (LIVE at 7PM ET) (Bernie Sanders on YouTube, Mar 22, 2025 - 47:07 min.)
All across the country, people are tired of the greed of the billionaire class. They are tired of a corrupt political system that leaves working people behind.

If you think the USA will be functionally capable of holding a presidential election in 2028 I think you are being wildly optimistic. That being said the results of the last few years suggests they should just pick some innocuous old white guy to get the job done.

I gather Trump recently called George Clooney a "second rate actor".

Every accusation...

Sadly, I think you're right. As we've seen, this country is filled with bigots.

MAGA morons would started screaming "DEI election!"

Gavin Newsom? He'd have a hard time defending his fiscal record first and foremost (the state is running a budget deficit of $30-plus billion per year and is over $158 billion in debt), not to mention the debacle of the state's response to the LA wild fires, spending millions on slavery reparations (even though California was never a slave state and even though the bill does not require recipients to prove they had ancestors who were slaves), his admission that forcing female athletes to compete against male athletes is unfair while refusing to do anything about it, his police-state COVID measures, his support of allowing teachers and counselors not to tell parents if their children are expressing an interest in gender "transition," his feckless response to homeless camps virtually taking over parts of cities, his use of taxpayer dollars to pay for transgender surgeries, etc., etc.

Yeah, good luck with that. And allow me to suggest that Tim Walz be Newsom's running mate.
