Who should run for the Dems?

I don't think a politician is going to beat the cult of Trump.

It sucks that America is this way. But the Dems need to accept it and fight with whatever tools will work. That means fame.

Harris should be the 2028 nominee, with Walz as her VP pick again. They only lost because they weren't woke enough and because the Russians rigged the election again, just as they did in 2016.

In 2028, don't hold back about forcing female athletes to compete against biological males. The Harris-Walz campaign said very little about this issue. Don't be deterred by the fact that even a New York Times poll recently found that 64% of Democrats oppose transgenders in female sports. Those Democrats were probably Republicans who falsely claimed to be Democrats. If they were Democrats, they just need to be educated to understand why it's totally fair and normal to force females to compete against males.

In 2028, step up and defend the right of minors to have their genitals irreversibly mutilated in order to "change" their gender, even if their parents object. In addition, step up and defend the right of convicts to have taxpayers fund their transgender surgeries. The Harris-Walz campaign decided not to run a response ad to the GOP ad on the subject. Now, granted, they didn't run the response ad because it got bad reviews in focus groups, but those focus groups just weren't woke enough, that's all. Don't let the ticket make this mistake again. Go bold in 2028.

Anywayyy...
Every. ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊. Thread. I swear to ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ God it's worse than Godwin. They can't help themselves.

For me, I'd like to see someone fairly to the left and I think they'll succeed with someone fairly liberal. I don't have any names on the tip of my tongue. Would Gretchen from MI have a chance?

And his dad was a newsman. So there are three thing going for him if you count being a famous actor.

Actors have never been able reach the presidency, much less a governorship. I will always stand by that and cannot be proven wrong.

Maybe if Clooney had ever held any sort of political office. Let's start with city council.
Please tell my you are making a joke here.
Ever hear or Ronald Reagan?

Ronald Reagan
Arnold Schwarzenegger
If you answering Pit Pat on the presidency you are half right/.
Arnie was never and can never be President. Hs is a natualized citizen, and only a natural born citizen can be President.

Meanwhile here in Sacramento, where California political gossip is a major pastime, big rumor is Harris might make a run to replace Newsom as GOvernor, since Newsom will be termed out as Govenror in 2026.

As a Michigander, I would love for her to run. However, she's been hinting that once her term ends in 26 she'll be bowing out of public service. That could change between now and 28, have to wait and see. Though a Whitmer-Duckworth ticket would be fun.

John Tester
Huh, he'd have to make some gains in some sort of recognition and I think has a ways to go. A Montana centrist senator I think would have a few problems there.

I agree that if it's anybody (right now) it would be Gavin Newscum (get it? NewSCUM?)

I'll give you a minute to let it sink in.

Tester is very down to earth. Many farmers' wives would vote for him. Yet he would not stop any Democrat plans.

I think Pete Buttigieg is by far the best candidate as of now. But there's no way he could win. We can't even get a woman elected President ffs, we'll see that long before we see a gay guy. Harris, no way, already forgot about her. Anyone old, God I hope not. Walz is too much of a milquetoast to generate any excitement. How about Al Franken? What he was ousted for is peanuts compared to what The POSOTUS has done.
I think George Clooney needs to step up and run for President.
Americans are in thrall with the cult of personality (hence Trump), so the Democrats need someone really famous.

Do you agree, or do you have a better suggestion? Just kicking off the discussion Dems really need to have early, unlike last time.
He's already been President, in at least one production I can think of (Fail-Safe, the live TV presentation). But then
he nuked New York City intentionally
so there's that.

Generally agree with this. America is not prepared for a gay president right now. I used to think there was no way a black man could be elected president, but that happened twice.

Also thought that a woman would be elected before a black man. Was wrong about that.

But gay guy, no. At least not right now, maybe in about 20 years. And Schumer is Jewish (so basically a no based on history). Hakeem Jeffries could be a contender if they get the House back in the midterms, IMO.
