Trump's Second Term

To be honest, when I cited Quayle I was actually thinking of the SNL portrayal of Ross Perot's running mate, James Stockdale ("Where am I? Who am I??) and for some reason I transposed Quayle and Stockton in my mind, probably due to a combination of senility and the emotional trauma of the past couple months...
When George H.W Bush was president, I think there was a joke about how even those who hated him wished him well when he threw up on the emperor of Japan, because of two words "Dan. Quayle". But he seems like the very paragon of sanity right now.

Transactional suggests "give something to get something", Trump is more "See. Want. Take. Have." And he thinks the same (absence of) rules should apply to all the ultra rich, especially dictators and hoping-to-be-dictators.
"We'd like you to do something for us though..." He will never give anything unless he gets something in return.

Zelenskyy was just about to give him everything he wanted in return for aid. But then JD opened his stupid mouth and the deal wasn't signed. Coincidence?

The thing is that actual Mafia bosses are actually brave, don't mind getting their hands dirty and have thrived in an environment where only the fittest survive.

OTOH, Trump is cowardly, squeamish and had spent his entire life shielded from the consequences of his actions.
Mafia bosses also tend to end up like this:

Trump was speaking alongside Fifa president Gianni Infantino at the signing of an executive order to establish a taskforce that will oversee preparations for the tournament.
Trump will chair the task force, which will "co-ordinate with federal agencies in planning, organising and executing" the tournament.

I foresee chaos.
It's absolutely guaranteed. And if Trump persists in "managing" it, it will fail spectacularly if it even goes ahead. So as I said above, FIFA (insert-your-credit-card-here) should be looking for a viable alternative starting right about now.

This is trump leaving the White House for the weekend yesterday afternoon.

He looks terrible. Hair on top is white, bags under his eyes, the stress he's under seems visible on his face. A figure out of a nightmare come to life. :(

I doubt he sleeps at all, too many social media rants to engage in. The less sleep, the more drugs he will be on. It has to catch up to him eventually!
ETA: in 2017 it was reported he sleeps 4-5 hours a day--I bet it's less than that now. I don't care how genetically blessed you are, that will eventually take its toll.

To me, it looks more like he's just wearing less make up to pretty himself up.

Elon thinks the USA should leave NATO.
Be ready for Donald's EO on the matter.

Elon Musk
@elonmusk

We really should.

Doesn’t make sense for America to pay for the defense of Europe.

The USA is the only country to vote against a UN resolution declaring an international day of hope and "International Day of Peaceful Coexistence"

Here are the reasons given by the US

In the last U.S. election, the mandate from the American people was clear: the government of the United States must refocus on the interests of Americans. We must care first and foremost for our own that is our moral and civic duty. President Trump also set a clear and overdue course correction on "gender" and climate ideology, which pervade the SDGs.

Put simply, globalist endeavors like Agenda 2030 and the SDGs lost at the ballot box. Therefore, the United States rejects and denounces the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals, and it will no longer reaffirm them as a matter of course.

Musk's just another goddamned moron. For longer than he's been alive it's made sense for America to pay for the defence of Europe.

Obviously the US wants Europe to substantially pay its way but it makes complete sense (from America's point of view) for it always to be kept dependent on the US to make it's defence fully capable. The alternative is either Europe fails and parts of Europe get chipped away by a rising Russia or Europe succeeds in becoming a capable peer adversary, and becomes a potential future threat to the US.

Musk is in the middle of the seat of power, surrounded by smart people and listening to none of them.

America is paying who to defend Europe...? It would seem the USA is paying its own armaments industry to build arms for its own military. Which it will be paying for anyway, whether in NATO or out. So this is just so much propaganda nonsense. Like tariffs.

Well, until now Europe was also paying America's arms industry but thanks to Trump, those customers will think long and hard about security of supply in future procurement rounds and by domestic where they can.

He's done for US arms exports what Putin did for Russian arms exports 3 years ago by showing the world how high Russian tanks liked to toss their turrets.
