Trump's Second Term

Hegseth disqualifies all transgender troops.

"Service members who have a current diagnosis or history of, or exhibit symptoms consistent with, gender dysphoria are disqualified from military service."

"Service members who have a history of cross-sex hormone therapy or a history of sex reassignment or genital reconstruction surgery as treatment for gender dysphoria or in pursuit of a sex transition, are disqualified from military service.”
I'd be interested in the total number.

Instead of just releasing all of the 'Epstein files' to the public at once. Donald decided to give a redacted copy of 'Phase 1' of the files to a hand picked group of internet influencers who are favorable to him.
This is a PR stunt, where's the transparency he promised?

Will he do the same with the JFK files?

Wonder what happens when some of his senior generals are forced to resign.

ETA: It will be gays next. Then women.

Sounds about right. The military should be full of straight, Christian, men with the most senior ones being white.

I wonder whether they will come to the conclusion that segregation by race will also improve morale.

Biden surely?
Hey, as far as I've seen, it looks like Trump's "plan" was just to irresponsibly abandon people and things like he did when he betrayed and abandoned the Kurds to those who desire to commit genocide against them. What consequences did Trump ever suffer for things like - Trump's betrayal of the Kurds gifted military intelligence to Russia - and what public investigation was ever done?

Biden did a bunch of work to handle things much more responsibly. There certainly were faults, of course, but the difference is more akin to heaven and hell. The bar for Democrats to pass is up in the clouds, while the bar for Republicans to pass is down in hell, as ever.

As of the close of the day on February 27, my positive/negative score on the Trump administration stands at -194.

27 February 2025

0: Pete Hegseth says the military will investigate the USA's withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 -1: Headline: "VA gets GSA request to slash total number of employees who hold purchase cards" (federalnewsnetwork.com)
-1: Trump again blames the price of eggs in the US on the Biden administration instead of avian flu [58]
-1: Trump on calling Zelenskyy a dictator: “Did I say that? I can’t believe I said that.” (Aaron Rupar X)
-1: Trump administration fires hundreds of meteorologists and NOAA staff

Reference

58. Donald Trump: “Eggs are a disaster. The secretary of agriculture is gonna be showing you a chart that's actually mind-boggling, what's happened, how low they were with us and how high they are now."
Should be a -1. It's an obvious drumhead to place the blame for Trampy's withdrawal on Biden.

Breaking news! Trump's just released the JFK files! Apparently the FBI concluded at the time that "Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton did it" because that appeared in Sharpie, scrawled across every other page.

It's not running on ancient hardware. Just the notam looks old.
The Philips mainframe systems in question host the NOTAMs, METARs (aerodrome conditions), PIREPs (weather reports), and flight plans. These do not directly relate to operational traffic control but are considered essential information for air operators. The hardware is "ancient" by modern non-critical server standards, as it dates to the mid-1990s. But for mainframe-class hardware this is not considered outside its life span. This system has been remarkably stable over its lifespan, well within expected uptime requirements (generally three or four 9s). The most concerning problem is that Philips is no longer in business and therefore no longer supporting the system—an excellent argument for why a privately-held, single-source company is not the right answer here.

There are many criticisms of the NOTAM system in general, if you go to the DC air crash thread you can read through some of them.

For comparison, I guarantee your banks and insurance companies are still running on 90s-era mainframes.

Clearly no transgender is capable of pulling a trigger, piloting a drone or being patriotic enough to want to serve their country.

I never ever will understand how people's sexuality somehow seems to matter for all professions somehow. But hey, the president with the most military background in the history of the world appointed this guy, so he must be totally capable.

Because when you've been winning the class war for forty years, it's important to have some manufactured outrage to distract from that.
