It's not running on ancient hardware. Just the notam looks old.
Then if you upgrade the software and hardware you can't give the ATC a pay rise or hire enough of them.

There already was a plan to upgrade to the NextGen ATC system and that's been running for a few years. Musk FAFOing around is going to derail that.

Indeed. And also because the system as it stands is certified to operate to a certain standard in order to be acceptable for use. I'm expecting there's a whole range of reliability criteria it has to maintain. Making it an untested app on a new version Windows PC, which requires a long, slow reboot when it spirals to a halt, is not the best alternative. But that's what they are proposing!

Yeah but if you make an app everyone can run it on their phone, instant upgrade. And of course the new software won't reveal Musk's and his fellow billionaires's flight plans....
