They may want healthcare for their kids but they don't want healthcare for those other kids of less deserving (brown) parents because that's communism.

They'll also be told by the right wing firehose of lies that none of the money will go into healthcare for their kids and will instead be spent on DEI-woke-Trans initiatives for kids who identify as cats and because they're not immersed in the minutae of politics, enough will believe some of that nonsense. Remember all those people who would get rid of Obamacare in an instant so that the government can focus on delivering the ACA. :xrolleyes

...and as their dissatisfaction grows, so will their distrust of the deep state, their hatred of the "others" who are responsible for their pain (those horrible illegal immigrants, minorities and liberals) and they will be driven further into the arms of the group which promises them simple solutions to their problems.
 
I still believe that what Americans REALLY want is to be able to bitch about their government, and that means they need to let the opposing team into power now and then.

There may be some Americans like that but the MAGA supporters seem to want to be in power - even they lose the election - and they are the Republican party these days.

Exactly. Never look in the mirror. The woke left had no influence and we haven't been seeing pride flags and similar shows of adherence everywhere.

Nothing. It was just assumed globalism works. Because we don't make most consumer goods anymore. It was more that Trump preached an imagionary world where we bring all the jobs back from Asia.

Of course, it´s a show of power. And the amount of people that have been cancelled and harassed for not kneeling to this silly new religion is proof enough that the power was there to be commanded.

Denialism is not going to help. Leftism went too extremist, alienated everyone except the ideological fundamentalists and now everyone has to pay the price.
 
Where's the power? Are they bombing other countries? Are they sanctioning other countries? Are they leveraging the international banking system to maintain dominance over developing nations? Are they propping up authoritarian states? You think a rainbow flag outside a store is more powerful than any of that?

Or is asking you to be courteous so horrible? Are you so weak that you need to neoNazis to come protect you from that? Are you so morally vapid that you'll burn down the foundations of Western civilization so you don't have to see pronouns in email signatures?

Don't tell me about symbols of power. Show me the wielding of it. Because that's where your little persecution fantasy fizzles out.

They (Democrats, Argentinian peronists etc.) didn´t just do something wrong. They did it catastrophically wrong. People didn´t just vote for Trump or Milei, they voted against the ridiculousness, bullying and alienation of Democrats and peronists. They did it so spectacularly wrong that people preferred to vote for freaks such as Trump and Milei rather than the corrupt, supercilious status quo... You have to do something really wrong to lose against these buffoons...
