They have principles and those are.. whatever The Party tells them the principles are.
I can't find the article, but there was one back in November that was looking at party share by cohort. Democrats have been losing margin within black, hispanic, indian, asian, and female cohorts for a few decades now. They still have a higher proportion of those cohorts when compared to Republicans, but the gap is narrowing. The only cohort that Democrats have been gaining margin with is white males. It's completely antithetical to the rhetoric.Senator John Fetterman (D), on what the Democrats have been doing wrong:
And on the Democrats' chances of winning back voters that they've lost with that approach:

Sure sure. Totally makes sense that insulting people will convince them to vote for you.Yeah, yeah, voters are snowflakes with preciously sensitive feelings. We know. Got to coddle them just like the eggs they value more than democracy itself.
That's just what a Nazi would say.If you call a Nazi, a Nazi, they whine.
Apparently what Dems did wrong was fail to insult their voters enough. If they'd only insulted their voters more, they'd totally have won, but those stupid poopyheads were too dumb and racist to be swayed by the insults.
The two largest demographics of defectors from Trump to Harris were white men (2%) and white women (3%) (black women (2%) also shifted in that direction). The two largest demographics of defectors from Biden 2020 to Trump 2024 were Hispanic men (18%) and Hispanic women (7%).“Voters” here of course meaning “white people”.
Denigrating minorities with vicious conspiracy theories is a winning strategy.
But making white people feel bad about themselves, not so much.

I don't think that MAGA supporters are necessarily "stupid". The majority of people aren't anywhere near as engaged in politics as we are. For us it's a hobby and it likely impinges on our family/sports watching/beer drinking/going to church/other hobbies time. These people don't have the time or inclination to immerse themselves in the details of policy, acquaint themselves with the various political and economic theories or run themselves through the various "what if ?" scenarios.MAGA folk lack education and only think about the next paycheck. We have a problem with this unified "stupid" group. Who are proud to be....stupid. They do not use that word, but that is what it is. Their word is "common sense." But even that just means they go along with the rest, not thinking it through.
I do have a new theory of why Biden was unpopular. Vaccinations. The vaccinations were carried out in huge events. Many a MAGA voter reluctantly took it. We have to get on with life. But as the pandemic hung over us and the administration kept at it, and Fauci lectured to us. That was "too much government" hanging over his head. And he sure was not getting a second COVID shot. He never goes to the doctor, even.
They really aren't interested in any measurable things. The MAGA voters. They are voting by gut feel and MAGA people want the authoritarian. The price of eggs and gas are trivial things. Here, "big government" was the evil. The people ruinning it were also letting in aliens. Losers. Losers just below them, if they did settle here.I don't think that MAGA supporters are necessarily "stupid". The majority of people aren't anywhere near as engaged in politics as we are. Most people only encounter the political process during an election year and at that point they are most interested in the things that they think are important.

Ummm, do we remember the little incident Fetterman still won't apologize for?And on the Democrats' chances of winning back voters that they've lost with that approach:

Trump was deplatformed? When?
I would say from that tweet, somewhere around 1/21/21,Trump was deplatformed? When?
You do realise how that would play in the press - Democrats advocating for billions of dollars being wasted on providing gender reassignment surgery to illegal immigrants.I mean, why don't Dems just pick a single thing their main goal that they want to pass, something totally unobjectionable unless you are a monster?
Like Universal Free Child Healthcare: how easy would it be to paint anyone as heartless who opposes this, or even just asks about funding?
Just say that you will do it and somehow find the money?
