Trump's Second Term

Trump ended the security detail for Dr. Fauci. "Speaking to reporters in North Carolina on Friday, Trump said he wouldn’t feel any responsibility if harm befell the former government officials. A person familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive security issues, said that Fauci’s federal security detail was ended on Thursday and that he has since hired private security." I am at a loss for words.
He should take the opportunity to travel the world. I am sure he could get a nice deal as an emeritus Professor at Oxford or Cambridge, free housing and no worries about MAGA maniacs.

Another authoritarian move as The Great Purge continues:

Trump administration moving to fire FBI agents involved in investigations of Trump, AP sources say

WASHINGTON (AP) — Trump administration officials are moving to fire FBI agents engaged in investigations involving President Donald Trump in the coming days, two people familiar with the plans said Friday.

It was not clear how many agents might be affected, though scores of investigators were involved in various inquiries touching Trump. Officials acting at the direction of the administration have been working to identify individual employees who participated in politically sensitive investigations for possible termination, said the people who insisted on anonymity to discuss private conversations.

The terminations would be a major blow to the historic independence from the White House of the nation’s premier federal law enforcement agency and would reflect the Trump’s determination to bend the law enforcement and intelligence community to his will.
It’s part of a startling pattern of retribution waged on federal government employees, following the forced ousters of a group of senior FBI executives earlier this week as well as a mass firing by the Justice Department of prosecutors on special counsel Jack Smith’s team who investigated Trump.

Our resident Trump supporters should be very happy as Der Trumpenfuhrer transforms the FBI into the MBI: Maga Bureau of Investigation.

Probably worth mentioning on at least every page of this thread: The actions the Trump administration are taking are indistinguishable from authoritarianism.

This maybe should be in the conspiracy forum but I would not call it a conspiracy, just telling on where the Maggats mindset is/has been:
"It will take an airplane crash killing hundreds of people for them to change this crazy policy of DIE" -Elon Musk (Tweet from Jan 9, 2024)

Old news, all those involved in investigations are out, he's moved on to Generals and the retired ex Chief ofS taff that said something bad about him. Removed his security detail and is looking to get his rank demoted.

The US is really ◊◊◊◊◊◊. This time for real.
I can not see any path coming back from this ◊◊◊◊ show.

Even if you expect there to be another fair election to ever happen again, and even if the Dems are going to win the next election, how are they supposed to turn all that ◊◊◊◊ back? Trump and his idiots will ◊◊◊◊ up every part of the government and put thousands of idiots in crucial places. This is not something that the Dems will be able to undo anytime soon, or probably even willing to do because it is going to look exactly like what Trump is doing now. Coming in do the great purge.

If this won't end up in a full blown non-democratic system like Russia, it will end up in an endless 'game' of retaliation process whenever the government changes by election.

The scope of this (partly intentional) destructive incompetence is going to be the likes of which the world has never seen before.
I suggest you look up Germany, Italy, and Japan 1931 through 1945.

I think almost all the posters here are aware of that fact......

So let's just give up. Plays right into Trump's hands

Trump: "We're gonna put tariffs on chips. We're gonna put tariffs on oil and gas. That'll happen fairly soon. I think around the 18th of February."

and a lot of tariffs on steel, aluminium and copper.

Trump says his tariffs against Mexico and Canada are for real and not just a negotiating tool

Coup continues.

Aides to Elon Musk charged with running the U.S. government human resources agency have locked career civil servants out of computer systems that contain the personal data of millions of federal employees, according to two agency officials.

The two officials, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation, said some senior career employees at OPM have had their access revoked to some of the department's data systems.

The systems include a vast database called Enterprise Human Resources Integration, which contains dates of birth, Social Security numbers, appraisals, home addresses, pay grades and length of service of government workers, the officials said.
"We have no visibility into what they are doing with the computer and data systems," one of the officials said. "That is creating great concern. There is no oversight. It creates real cybersecurity and hacking implications."

it was March, then tomorrow now mid-February?

He says the 18th just now.

He also says he's "absolutely" going to impose tariffs on the EU because they have treated the US so terribly.

Trump as announced 25% tariffs on goods coming from Mexico and Canada, (I think oil may be exempted. Figures.), but a 10% tariff on goods coming from China. Interesting. I guess we can't have all that Maga gear that's made in China go up in price significantly. To say nothing of all the other stuff made in China.
