Go after the corporations that benefit from undocumented immigration? Adjust our foreign policy to stop supporting authoritarian dictators? Crack down on corproations doing so? Take climate change seriously?

Okay, so what should the Democrats have done about this?
Won more elections so they could prevent Republicans from doing more of that, and harder? Just because I identify what I think of as a problem doesn't mean I have a solution, or think any given party has a solution.

They should've built a media infrastructure over the last 40 years to counteract the misinformation infrstracture that the GOP built over the last 40 years.

It sounds like you're just rattling off issues you care about?

Not obviously; the Berlin wall was built to keep people from emigrating so it's sort of hard to say whether authoritarian governments are a driver here.

I think too many people are really hurting from the massive inflation and that kind of may have sealed the deal for Kamala.
I would argue that it pretty much sealed the deal for incumbents in highly developed democracies across the world.

Of course, the Democratic Party could have made fewer own goals, but it's possible that even an optimal strategy would have failed.

The title should go: what did Trump and the GOP do that worked? Since there was virtually no way to reach MAGA and tell them trump is conning you.
1 2016 crooked Hillary. Comey last day laptop.
2 2020 no Hillary and Trump did not deliver. The working poor were still poor.
3 Trump warns about illegals again like in 2016. Biden goes senile. Price of eggs went up.
Trump, who failed in one term, should have lost by 10%. Harris was not scary. Schools did not turn boys into girls.

Is the country all ADD? We have to have a new president every 4 years from now on? Because Twitter. Because TikTok etc.

It took me a few books of MAGA type of politics and explanation of the support to learn one thing. The supporters do not see Trump as a politician. Somewhow that makes him on their side. The voters can "smell" a poltician right away, and that is what Harris and Biden are. Politicians who do not say exactly what the voter thinks are on "their side." That part I can understand, as I feel that way about all Republicans.

Since he is not a politician, he just needs to fly people he deals with to maralago and tell them what to do. And by only going occasionally to the White House, he can be an outsider for four years. He owes nothing to anyone in DC. (True, he is not running again, no matter what he says)

There should be some sort of rule of thumb that no matter what the OP, U.S. politics threads will always end up being about Trump.

There were yard signs such as: "Trump Safety; Kamala crime." This should have been refuted: "Harris prosecutor; Trump criminal."
