True. His supporters don't understand that what he is doing also hurts them too. They don't understand that white supremacy does not pay the bills.
No they understand it perfectly.
They know their way of life (both real and imagined) isn't coming back. Manufacturing isn't coming back, coal isn't coming back, farms being these little family owned homesteads instead of giant business owned factories that just happen to be outdoors isn't coming back.
And their mythical, non-existent idea of the "past" as a place where women and minorities knew their place, gay people didn't exist, and transgenderism wasn't even a concept Tumblr had decided to invent yet and we all went to church on Sunday to be told how horrible we are and how much forgiveness we needed isn't coming back from the place where it never existed either.
Please people I beg you if you ignore absolutely everything else I say, dismiss everything I say, downplay everything I say please listen to this and honestly understand it.
TRUMP... WAS... NOT... ELECTED... TO... MAKE... THINGS... BETTER... FOR... TRUMP... SUPPORTERS.
He was elected to hurt the rest of us on the way out.
Please, please, please tell me none of you are operating under "There's a ceiling to how bad this could get because eventually the Trumpers will hurt themselves so much they'll snap out of it and turn on him." Because that's like a WWII Battleship Captain looking at the incoming Kamikaze Plane and going "I'm not worried, if he hits the ship he'll be destroyed as well. He'll turn away before he hits."
The vast, core central base of Trump supporters are NOT harboring any illusions that he even intends to make things "better" for him or that's what he's there for.
Trumps numbers and that unshakable base of support makes a lot more sense when you realize he's succeeding 100% at the job most people voted him in to do.
