The Tim Walz campaign, and the ******** attacks upon him.

Comparing Flynn to Walz is like comparing Al Capone to a 12 yr-old who pocketed a candy bar from Walmart.

My point is that mere service should not be used as a shield from criticism. Flynn served for 33 years, and he is a criminal and traitor to the US.

He was promoted in September as I ETA'd my comment as soon as I found it.

This is nothing but swiftboating by a man who spent his service as a journalist never seeing combat and a man whose daddy got him a fake medical deferment and has called those who died in the service of their country "losers".

I'd say we should stop arguing with these weirdo losers, but I guess we must continue to correct their dishonesty.

All I can say to Scopedog etc is, Have you no shame? Have you no decency? Is anything beneath you? Is there nothing you would not do for your Fuhrer?

An anecdote about why you should read statements of understanding and understand them:

A Captain had transferred his education benefits to his spouse while still on active duty and later separated. At some point she used the education benefits for, I think, a nursing program. One day my supervisor showed me an e-mail from the Captain. The Captain had received a letter from Veteran Affairs (which administers education benefits) saying that he owed all of his spouse's education money back, at least tens of thousands of dollars, I don't remember the amount, and he wanted to know why.

My supervisor asked me to look into it. I knew that the benefit transfer statement of understanding had a clause requiring additional years of service so I looked at the benefit transfer date and whatever the service obligation was and found that he separated a couple months before the obligation he had agreed to. There were also exception clauses but he didn't fulfill any of those. I told my supervisor he owes the money and never heard about it again.

I agree but my comment still stands. Flynn is a criminal whom Trump pardoned but Walz is just being swiftboated.

Seriously? That's what you got out of that? OK, I'll edit the post for those that are pedantic and/or deliberately obtuse.

You made blanket statements about how respectable 22 years of service was, so why wouldn't Flynn's 33 years of service earn him a similar regard?

No, you're right. That's why I edited it. Engaging in criminal activities or turning against your country like Flynn did warrants criticism.

Wallpaper words, covering up the lack of actual arguments.

And it's clear why: Ziggurat's actual criticism, accurately stated, would be "Walz's first run for congress didn't show an ideal level of media attentiveness." And maybe that case could be made. But who cares? There's no juice there. But raise the specter of "stolen valor" and now it's a scandal, even if it's not an accurate one.

All this coming from Vance who described Trump as
"loathsome",
"America's Hitler",
"a cynical a**hole like Nixon",
"What an idiot",

And declared that:

"I'm a Never Trump guy,"
“I never liked him,”
“Mr. Trump is unfit for our nation’s highest office,
“I can’t stomach Trump,”
“I think that he’s noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place,”
“I think there’s a chance, if I feel like Trump has a really good chance of winning, that I might have to hold my nose and vote for Hillary Clinton.”

And they call Harris a flip-flopper?

All these attacks on Walz's military service are nothing more than crap-flinging to redirect from his own comments disparaging his now suddenly admired steppingstone to more political power.

I do forgive Governor Walz. I thought it would be interesting to expand on the opening post. Perhaps it's interesting to someone.

He has done nothing wrong, and definitely not anything that would necessitate somebody with the authority of the dust on my feet.

I really don't GAF.

The man served our country for 24 years. I'm NEVER EVER going to denigrate ANYONE (over such a minor technicality)1 who has given so much when I have given so little.

Fixed for PonderingTurtle1

Agreed. Anyone who can't get that through their thick skull and keeps this B.S. going is a P.O.S. in my book!

No you don't and all caps just says you know you don't and think shouting will convince me. You have found some people who say it was alright and you chose not to look deeper. Neither of us has been in the National Guard and moreover neither of us was in his unit.

Here's the obvious question--does that policy appeal to the middle? Or does it appeal to progressives?

It appeals to people who care about the lives of others.

Goddamn it’s bizzare how much some go out of their way to hate children. I’m sorry, I don’t get it.
If not wanting people to commit suicide is your bar for “progressives” then you’re not okay

Something I would do with Tim Walz if I was with the Harris campaign. Maybe not tomorrow, but I would work it in.

I'd send him hunting or to some gun ranges in Montana/ Texas/ etc where he could demonstrate his proficiency and talk policy. This would appeal to the men/redneck/outdoors men vote.

Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? This is the kind of thing you couldn't do with almost any other candidate. But if he's half the marksman he is reputed to be. It could get a point or two in the male vote. That could make a huge difference.

Yes, the only options for trans kids is to let them commit suicide or let them sterilize themselves. It's the old "do you want a live eunuch or a dead son?" conundrum.

You're right. It's not. Almost no one becomes sterile until they go through surgical operations to change sex. And most of those have it done as an adult.

You know. I'm with you. I think it's weird that anyone is Trans. But it's none of my damn business.

It should be up to the person, their parents and their doctors. The rest of us need to butt out.

That sums it up nicely. I guess I get disagreeing that a trans woman is actually a woman, but I can't for the life of me get what the problem is. Some (very) few people out there are trans and some of them want to change their biological sex. So what? How does that concern me more than who other people choose to have consensual sex with?

Minor distinctions matter some times.

And some times they don't.

Does it matter that one says that they retired after reaching the rank of Command Master Sergeant without making the distinction that they retired as a lesser grade?

Is that like saying you didn't rape that woman, you only penetrated her without her consent?

It’s like saying you went on a dinner date with Margot Robbie but just as you were seated she spied some friends at the bar and went over to say hi for just a minute and lost track of time so you left dejected and ended the evening without so much as a boob squeeze on her doorstep. Yes, you dated her, but the previous sentence was longer than your encounter.
